Throughout the 2024 season Prep Baseball Scouts will be working to track and see as many games and players as possible. Each week the scouting staff will post game coverage, scout blog, player video and more.  This will be done in conjunction with Inside the Box, a daily scoreboard with select game and player highlights.

Through all the work to cover high school baseball in North Carolina, our scouting staff will be naming a player and pitcher of the week, each week of the high school regular season. Along with all the games Prep Baseball Scouts will see, cover, and examine, high school coaches will also be able to pass along information on how their players performed.  On Friday of each week, the Prep Baseball staff will contact high school coaches in North Carolina.  All players that are submitted will be considered for Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Each week Prep Baseball will open up the process to baseball fans across North Carolina.  After all the submissions were compiled, the Prep Baseball Staff selects three players.  These players' stats were posted to X and Instagram as part of a poll, where the baseball fans in North Carolina can help select the Player and Pitcher of the Week.

April 8 - 13, 2024 Player of the Week

Good teams have good players and there are times in the season where good players can put their team on their back and carry them to victory.  This week's Player of the Week had one of those games.  No. 17 Pinecrest played a 3 game week with two conference games vs. Scotland and a third game vs. Northwood.  Our Player of the Week was in the lineup for two of the three games, and dominated this week's voting for North Carolina Player of the Week.

Bryant Kimbrell (INF/RHP, Pinecrest HS, 2024) got one at-bat vs. Northwood, game two of the week, but he walked twice and scored twice.  In game 3 of the week, vs. Scotland, Kimbrell settled into his clean-up slot in the lineup and went to work.

His first at-bat of the night, Kimbrell hit a 1 out, 3-Run HR to centerfield.  His 2nd at-bat would come in the 2nd inning, again with two runners on, and Kimbrell, again, homered to centerfield. Still in the 2nd inning, Kimbrell would get his 3rd chance of the night, this time with the bases loaded and again, Kimbrell went deep to centerfield.

In total in game three, Kimbrell would go 3-3 with 3 HR, and 10 RBI.  For the week, Kimbrell hit .750 and scored 5 runs.

This is Kimbrell's second NC Player of the Week honor in 2024.  He was also honored for his week of March 4 - 10.
