Carolina Senior Games West: Trackman Hitting Leaders
October 31, 2023
PBR was at Catawba College on Sunday October 22, 2023 for the Carolina Senior Games West. This was the 2nd of a two part Senior Games series with North Carolina and South Carolina 2024 graduates putting their best foot forward as we close in on the early signing period for this year's senior class. Position players arrived first going through some agility and athletic testing with Swift Athletics, followed by multiple rounds of live BP on the game field at Catawba. After BP, position players worked through their defensive positions in the pre-game setting. As the workout portion of the day concluded, the players readied for an 8 inning scrimmage with live arms throwing.
PBR Scouts were very impressed with the roster on hand for the Carolina Senior Games West. Many of these players will be given the chance to play at the next level and many may make a quick impression once they arrive on campus. As PBR breaks down results of the workout and game play, we will be working through several leader boards and scout note blogs to bring information to college coaches and baseball fans that are following the 2024 class.

TrackMan Leader Board - Hitters
PEAK EXIT VELOCITY
TrackMan is able to track every ball hit into fair territory, throughout the BP sessions. Below are the exit velocities produced by individual players.
AVERAGE EXIT VELOCITY
The average exit velocity measures a players ability to consistently produce hard contact. The average was taken based on every ball tracked by TrackMan throughout the player's BP session.
DISTANCE OFF THE BAT
TrackMan is able to measure and track the ball while in the air. For every fair ball put in play it will display the distance the hit traveled.
Peak Distance - Best of the Hitter’s Session
Average Distance - Average of each ball tracked in the Session
SWEET SPOT PERCENTAGE
TrackMan is able to track and follow how hard the ball is hit as well as the angle off the bat. With this information, TrackMan has deduced the Sweet Spot as batted balls hit with a launch angle of 8 - 32 degrees.
LAUNCH ANGLE PERCENTAGE
Based on the ball flight, TrackMan is able to identify each hit as a ground ball, line drive, or fly ball. While there are many factors as to why a hitter may approach each pitch in a certain way, the overall groupings of BP can give some insight to each hitter's approach.
