Voyager Academy Vikings  0 Athens Drive Jaguars  5

The Vikings from Voyager Academy struggled to get their offense going Wednesday afternoon against a solid pitching performance by Athens Drive senior Troy Daniels. The Jaguars righty allowed 2 hits and no runs in a complete game striking out 8 and only giving up 1 free pass. 

Jaguars sophomore Austin Mantz lead the charge with 3 hits and an RBI to help Athens cruise to a 5-0 victory at home. Athens Drive moves to 4-2 on the season and hosts Green Level HS on Thursday. Voyager moves to 3-2 and will welcome the Durham School of The Arts to Historic Durham Athletic Park for a Thursday matchup.

Radford commit. 5-foot-9, 175 pounds. Athletic frame. High baseball IQ. Quick hands combined with a balanced approach creates solid strength from the left handed hitter. Solid barrel feel. Showed patience and feel for the strike zone. Advanced receiver behind the plate, working from the ground up. Uses multiple receiving angles to create strike opportunities.  Smooth easy transfer, gains ground well, strong accurate arm 2.10 pop times in warmups. 

Hansel Diaz, 3B, Athens Drive HS, 2025 

5-foot-9, 165 pounds. Good glove at 3rd base. Agile with quick first step. Arm carries well with good accuracy. Right handed hitter showed feel for the barrel. Some length in the swing. Used all fields.
