Green Hope HS  0 Apex HS  11

From Monday 4/29/24:  Apex broke open the game with four runs in the third inning on a key 2 rbi double by Adrian Gonzalez (2026 INF). 

Cranz Smelcer (2024 RHP, Air Force commit) started the game for Apex HS and threw 2 shutout innings.  Probably prepping for the State Playoffs, Apex went to the bullpen where they got three shutout innings from Pat Morrisey (2024 RHP). 

Apex ended the game in the bottom of the fifth by the run rule when Drew Berenyi (2024 MIF) lined a 2 rbi double into the left center field gap. Seven different players scored runs for Apex HS.

6-foot-3, 195 pounds. Played Centerfield. Showed strong accurate arm during infield / outfield. Covers a lot of ground with his speed. Speed and aggressiveness played on the bases. Left handed hitter. Quiet athletic approach. Squared up the ball twice for two line drive hits, On base all three plate appearances. Good player. Name to watch as he enters his senior season, with a chance to add strength to the frame.

Adrian Gonzalez, 3B, Apex HS, 2025

Continues to impress every game. Right handed hitter. Strong hands. Quick bat. Swings a strong bat, with a good eye for the strike zone. Barreled up the ball twice in three at bats. Just missed a HR and had a double over the CF head. May play a bit faster than his run times on the bases with a feel for the game. Arm carried with ease from 3B, making a couple of plays moving to his right.
