Providence traveled to Weddington to open up their 2023 season. Junior DH Hank Jacobus hit a 2 RBI single which led Weddington to a 2-0 victory in their home opener.

Dan Donohoe, RHP, Providence, 2023
Stands 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Physical presence. Fastball at 87-88 for the first two innings with arm side run and some late life. Later in the game he sat 85-86. Fastball seemed to get on hitters quicker than they expected due to some late movement. Breaking ball is an average second offering at 77-78. Induced weak contact. His delivery starts with a slow leg lift which leads into a quick high effort arm action from over the top. 


Samuel Dansky, SS, Providence, 2023
Charlotte commit had an impressive night at the plate displaying an advanced knowledge of the strike zone to go along with a great two strike approach. Athletic stance with a slight preload in his back leg. Hands are positioned just behind the ear flap pointing towards the catcher. Lacks a load in the hands as the body rocks. Works to find his timing. When on the barrel, makes hard contact to all parts of the field. Advanced defender with good rhythm and actions in the hands and feet. Positioned to stay in the middle of the field moving forward.  


 

 


Luke Wolff, C, Providence, 2023
Advanced defender & leader behind the plate with an above average arm which he displayed by back picking a runner to end the first. At the plate, a right handed hitter showed a short, quick swing which allowed him to spray the ball all over the field. He had a solid feel for the barrel. Aggressive approach led to some chase early in counts.


Jackson Debe, INF, Providence, 2026
Large 6-foot-3 build that is still youthful and will add strength in the coming years. Incredible athlete who also is the quarterback for Providence. Advanced runner. In the box, slightly spread out with a slight bend in the knees. Toe tap load. Average barrel feel. Potential high ceiling. 


Jack Morrisette, 3B, Weddington, 2023
Thin 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. Plenty of room for additional strength. Left handed hitter. Spread out. Flat, working to stay on top of the baseball and work the middle of the field. Good ball to bat skills. Should see more power as he increases his mass and strength. Good runner that should have flexibility in his positioning as he continues to play at higher levels.
