Today we continue our look at some of the uncommitted 2017's.  Antonio Reneo jumped on to the scene at the State Games of NC.  While erratic in his first outing, the arm strength is not questioned.  Antonio was kind enough to answer some questions about his process and his next steps, as he makes his decision.  He is also scheduled to workout at the Uncommitted SR & Underclass Showcase in Holly Springs on Tuesday August 23rd.

Scouting Notes:  From the State Games of NC, Reneo is a strong armed LHP standing 6-foot, 180 pounds.  His fastball ranges 85-87, touched 88 and maintained the velocity throughout the short outing.  The breaking ball was used lightly, touching 72 with a spin rate of 2066rpm.  Working mostly off his fastball, Reneo works from a high-3/4 slot with some effort in the arm swing.  The front side fights his arm action at times causing him to be erratic, but this can clean up with time and reps. 

Interview with PBR:  

PBR: What Schools have you been hearing from?

AR:  I have heard from UNC Pembroke, UNC Asheville, Winthrop, NC A&T, NC Central, Liberty, Methodist, and Louisburg

PBR: Have you developed relationships with any particular coaches on the recruiting trail?

AR:  I am quite close to Coach Austin from Methodist University. I've also talked to the coaching staff from NC A&T many times, much respect for them and same to the NC Central coaching staff.

PBR: Have you taken any visits? Do you have any visits planned?

AR: I have visited NC A&T and NC Central. I do not have any other visits planned at the moment.

PBR: Is there a timeline for your recruitment in place?

AR: I am hoping I will commit after the Fall season coming up but I will wait if need be. I want to be sure I am making the right decision.

PBR: What has been the most interesting aspect of being a recruited athlete?

AR:  Knowing that my hard work is starting to pay off and how demanding the recruiting process actually is.

PBR: You are a good student, reporting a 3.90GPA and 24 on the ACT.  Any academic interests that will drive your decision?

AR: I'm not just a baseball player, I also worry about my academics. I am not 100% sure of what I want to pursue but I am leaning towards the engineering field.

PBR: From a baseball standpoint, what are your top priorities, when looking at potential schools?

AR:  I am looking for a baseball program that's not just good, but good for me. I want a pitching coach who has plenty of experience and enough knowledge to help develop my skills to get me to the next level.

PBR: Anything you would offer up to the 2018 & 2019 classes as they begin their process?

AR: Don't stop working on your game and always keep up your grades. Whether you're at a showcase or a game, always bring your A game, hustle and have a good attitude, because you never know who's watching.
