Team Carolina Future Games - NC Middle Infielders
August 21, 2019
The PBR Future Games is the biggest underclass recruiting event in the country. The 2019 version moved to LakePoint in Emerson, GA, and continued to grow in terms of the talent on the field and the coaches and schools in attendance. Over 500 of the top uncommitted underclass players from across the country, and Canada, performed in front of over 320 college coaches and scouts.
For the second year, Team Carolina combined the top prospects from North Carolina and South Carolina. Position players participated in a full pro-style workout on day 1, with most of the workouts coming on one field for the coaches and scouts. The following three days saw Team Carolina take on Team Georgia, Team Florida, and Team Alabama.
As we continue our coverage of the 2019 PBR Future Games, we begin to jump into the individual player evaluations. Today we look at two middle infielders from North Carolina that represented Team Carolina. Each uncommitted with bright futures ahead of them.

Team Carolina Analysis - NC Middle Infielders
Will Marcy SS / 3B / PRO5 Academy , NC / 2021Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 6
Fluid athlete with a rangy frame, standing 6-foot-2, 165 pounds. Plenty of room for strength to continue to be added in the coming years. Quickness and strength are present, running a 6.84 with a peak exit velocity of 90 mph off the barrel. Still working to translate the athleticism to all parts of his game, but easy to put a high ceiling on his projection. Potential high level defender at shortstop. Easy, soft hands with clean transitions to an accurate arm. Active feet with energy through the catch. Short arm swing with the ability to manipulate the arm slot based on the play. Accurate on and off platform with carry. Arm showed 85 mph carry across the field. Right handed hitter. Athletic stance, pressed on the back side. Flat barrel with some pre-pitch rhythm. Small stride. Some length in the swing with longer arms, but there is quickness. Works gap-to-gap with a line drive approach. Average to above barrel awareness. |
Adam Quintero SS / RHP / Piedmont, NC / 2021Rankings StateRank: 45 / POS: 8
Slender, athletic frame at 6-foot, 145 pounds. Lots of maturation in the body still to come. High energy, high motor player. Plays with a bounce. Ran a 7.06 sixty. Good feet and hands defensively. Consistently works the ball to the inside left hip area with the catch. Active feet make for a quick transition as the hands funnel to the midsection. Showed an ability to make accurate throws from several arm slots and maintain carry when off platform. Ball carried at 83 mph out of the hand across the diamond. Right handed hitter. Tall and balanced with a vertical bat in his setup. Medium stride, working for extension. Flat through the zone. Average bat speed and good barrel awareness. Exit velocity peaked at 87 mph. Swing is setup to allow for a jump as strength is added. |
