State Games Notebook: Region 5 & 6 Pitchers

The 2023 Body Armour State Games of North Carolina features 8 teams, representing 8 regions of the state, competing for the week in Charlotte, NC. On Monday each team worked out at Tuckaseegee Park, home of Queens University, giving scouts and coaches a quick glimpse at each roster on the field. Day 2 saw the start of the tournament format with the full day being played at Truist Field, home of the AAA Charlotte Knights. Day 3 shifted to UNC Charlotte’s Robert & Mariam Hayes Stadium, where the rest of the tournament will play out. Below our scouting staff gives a brief look at the 2nd day of game play.

Thin frame, still maturing and adding strength, stands 5-foot-10, 155 pounds. Strike thrower with an aggressive mentality, rarely giving hitters the ability to see the same pitch in the same place throughout an at-bat. Heavy mix. Located fastball to both sides and showed an ability to elevate. Cutter and breaking ball missed barrels. Change-up has swing and miss characteristics and allows the fastball to play up.
