Wake Forest- 12 Rolesville- 7
Rolesville hosted Wake Forest on Tuesday afternoon in game 1 on their 2 game series this week. Wake Forest came into the game undefeated with Rolesville having one loss in conference play.
With the MLB draft just around the corner there were plenty of eyes on hand to watch prospect Kahlil Watson. Watson wasted no time making his presence known, hitting a hard single to right field and quickly stealing second base. He then scored on a ground ball to shortstop after the throw was bobbled by the first baseman.
Rolesville would answer quickly in the bottom half of the inning when their electric leadoff hitter Michael Gupton hit a towering homerun over the left field wall. After the Gupton homerun Wake Forest starter Cooper Allen would settle in and retire the next three hitters.
Wake Forest would add 3 runs in the top of the 2nd scoring one run on a Cooper Allen double down the left line. Watson followed with another hit to the right side scoring 2 more runs. Wake Forest would add 2 more in the 4th making it 6-1.
Rolesville would fight back in the bottom half of the 4th scoring a run on a Josh Wiggins double then scoring 2 more runs on a Gabe Jackson single cutting the lead to 6-4.
Each time Rolesville would fight back Wake Forest always seemed to answer with more runs of their own. Watson sealed the deal in the top of the 7th launching a long home run to center making the score 12-4. Nicholas Moran and Carter Raper would close out the game on the mound for Wake Forest keeping them unbeaten on the year.
