SBA Summer Org Day: Quick Hitters

PBR was on hand at Cuthbertson High School this past Friday - Sunday. Friday featured position players in the organization going through a pro-style workout. Saturday and Sunday saw teams from the SBA organization scrimmage one another with PBR scouts on hand to continue to collect stats and player information.

SBA ORG DAY QUICK HITTERS
Long frame at 6-foot-4, 183-pounds with projection ahead. Easy effort to the delivery with a loose, clean arm action and high ¾ slot. Located his fastball to both sides of the plate at 84-86 mph. Breaking ball has bite with 11/5 shape at 70-73 mph. Landed his breaking ball for strikes. Uses his changeup to left hand hitters with run to his arm side at 75-76 mph. Stuff could tick up by next spring.
Lipscomb commit. 5-foot-10, 190-pound build. Quick arm with a ¾ release. Attacks hitters with his fastball that has heavy run and sink to his arm side. Consistently works to the bottom of the zone with his fastball sitting at 83-85 mph.
6-foot, 190-pound build. Fastball has plenty of run and sink at 77-79 mph. Breaking ball is tight at 70-71 mph (2300-2400 spin). Clean arm action with a high ¾ slot. Attacks the zone with both his fastball and breaking ball.
Athletic build at 6-foot, 170-pounds. Arm has quickness with a high ¾ slot. Fastball has run to his arm side at 78-79 mph. Flashed a breaking ball at 64-65 mph. Could see his stuff jump as the body matures.
UNC-Asheville commit. 5-foot-10, 190-pound build. Fastball sat at 83-85 mph with run to his arm side. Sharp breaking ball at 70-73 mph (2400-2600 spin). Lands his breaking ball for strikes and will expand the zone getting hitters to chase. Will throw his changeup to both right and left hand hitters at 78-79 mph. Arm is loose with a high ¾ release.
Anderson commit. Frame has length with room to fill out at 6-foot-4, 175-pounds. Fastball ranged from 83-86 mph from a high ¾ slot. Has feel for his breaking ball at 70-74 mph. Flashed a splitter with sinking action at 70 mph. Goes at hitters with all three pitches. Stuff could tick up by next spring.
Physical build at 6-foot-6, 235-pounds. Fastball ranged from 82-87 mph. Fastball has run when working to his arm side and showed feel for locating it to his glove side. Slider has sharp break working down and away from right hand hitters at 75-77 mph. Slider created issues for hitters getting swing and miss. Flashed a changeup at 74-76 mph.

Athletic build at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds. Arm is loose and quick with a high ¾ slot. Fastball ranged from 82-86 mph (2200-2300 spin). Breaking ball has sharpness at times working at 70-75 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 78 mph. Quick hands at the plate with better than average bat speed. Will use the whole field. Has arm strength from behind the plate topping at 81 mph.

5-foot-11, 155-pound build with room to add strength. Confident presence on the mound attacking hitters. Arm is quick with a high ¾ slot and some funk to the delivery. Fastball has life through the zone at 82-84 mph. Breaking ball is sharp with bite at 75-76 mph (2200 spin). Efficient in his 2 innings of work.

Lanky frame with room to add strength at 6-foot-2, 142-pounds. Athletic on the mound with a long, loose arm action and ¾ slot. Fastball sat at 78-80 mph, topping at 82 mph with run to his arm side. Slider has bite at 70-71 mph (2400 spin). Will use a slower, more slurvy breaking ball at 66 mph. Has feel for the zone with all pitches.
Lanky frame at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds. Loose arm with a high ¾ slot. Located his fastball to the bottom of the zone at 82-83 mph. Fastball has some run to his arm side. Breaking ball has 1/7 tilt at 65-67 mph. Lands his breaking ball for strikes and gets it to the backfoot of right hand hitters when ahead in the count. Fills the zone and should see his stuff jump in the coming years.

Athletic, lanky frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pound with plenty of projection ahead. Athletic on the rubber with a loose, fast arm. Easy effort to the delivery. Fastball ranged from 85-89 mph sitting mostly at 87-88 mph. Fastball has arm side run. Slider is sharp at 78-80 mph. Loose arm and athleticism suggest more to come in the future. Aggressive swings at the plate with bat speed. Has arm strength from the outfield with his throws topping at 93 mph. Sub-7 runner in the 60.

Strong, athletic build at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. Attacks the strike zone with his fastball that has arm side run at 84-86 mph (1700-1800 spin). Has feel for his breaking ball with depth and 11/5 shape at 71-72 mph. Compact arm stroke with a high ¾ release.

6-foot, 175-pound build. Lined balls to the left center gap during BP. Loose swing with some lift to the barrel path. Solid actions on the infield with a quick release and accurate arm. Doubled off the center field wall in game action.
5-foot-11, 155-pound build. Has arm strength from the outfield and across the diamond. Hands are quick at the plate with a middle of the field approach. Stayed through a breaking ball making hard contact to center field in game action.
Large frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Left hand hitter with a mostly flat swing path. Lined balls to his pull side and left the yard to right in BP.
5-foot-11, 170-pound frame with room to add strength. High baseball IQ and plays the game hard. Solid defensive actions with feel for making plays on the run. Left hand hitter with a short, balanced stroke. Swing is loose, and fluid. Squared balls up through the middle of the field in game action.
Athleticism present in a 5-foot-7, 155-pound frame. Hands are quick with barrel awareness. Fluid swing hitting balls off the barrel to the big part of the field in game play. Accurate arm with carry from the outfield. Sub-7 runner in the 60.

5-foot-10, 175-pound build. Balanced in the box with a flat barrel path through the zone. Lined balls to his pull side during BP.
5-foot-10, 190-pound build. Arm topped at 88 mph from the outfield and 85 mph across the diamond. Some lift to the barrel path with a pull approach. Lined a ball to left in game action.
5-foot-10, 190-pound build. Simple, compact stroke with quick hands. Lined balls through the middle and to his pull side in BP.
6-foot, 225-pound build. Launched balls to his pull side during BP leaving the yard on multiple swings. Barrel stays through the zone. Barrel feel and bat speed present. Has presence in the box when facing live pitching with feel for the strike zone. Stayed inside a breaking ball driving it to deep right center while using wood and barreled another ball to the shortstop. Plays the game with energy.

5-foot-11, 140-pound frame with room for maturation ahead. Lined balls gap to gap during BP. Balanced swing with a short barrel path to the ball. Solid actions on the infield.
5-foot-10, 164-pound frame with room to fill out in the coming years. Above average hands behind the plate handling different arms with ease. Quick transitions with an accurate arm to second base. Balanced at the plate with a flat barrel path through the zone. Lined a ball to left against live pitching.
NC State commit. 6-foot, 185-pound frame with quickness present. Athletic at the plate with a balanced approach. Hands are quick with above average bat speed. Barreled a ball to his pull side in game action. Fluid actions at shortstop with confidence in his hands.
5-foot-9, 155-pound frame with room for growth in the coming years. Fluid actions at shortstop with confidence in his hands. Fluid swing with his barrel staying through the zone. Squared a ball up to right field for a double in game action.

Strong build at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. Above average bat speed making hard contact in BP. Some lift to the swing path with the ability to use the whole field. Barreled a breaking ball to left for a base hit in game action. Has arm strength from behind the plate.
Strong build at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds. Hands have strength and quickness. Worked to both gaps during BP.
5-foot-10, 175-pound build. Hands work with ease with looseness in his hips behind the plate. Slides and blocks dirt balls with softness. Accurate arm that reached 78 mph to second base. Balanced at the plate with a line drive approach working through the middle of the field.
Strength present in a 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Left hand hitter with strength and quickness to his hands. Has lift to his swing path with a gap to gap approach. Average to above bat speed.
6-foot-4, 190-pound frame. Loose, balanced swing with feel for his barrel. Lined a ball to left for a double in game action.
Athletic frame at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds with room for maturation ahead. Simple, compact and repeatable delivery. Fastball at 76-78, spinning up to 1980rpm. Breaking ball at 65-66 with an average of 1990rpm. Flooded the zone. Worked to both sides. Advanced feel for the craft on the bump.
Balanced in the box with quick hands and feel for his barrel. Better than average bat speed for his grade. Athletic actions on the infield.
UNC-Wilmington commit. 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame with quickness present. Left hand hitter with quick hands and above average bat speed. Some lift to the swing path. Ran a 4.22 home to first on a ground ball to the shortstop.
Physical build at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Aggressive swings with a middle of the field approach. Hands have strength. Accurate arm from the outfield.
5-foot-11, 135-pound frame with room to add strength. Barrel is short to the ball and stays through the zone. LIned balls gap to gap during BP. Solid actions on the infield. Pace of play and understanding of the game stood out.
On the mound, Fastball was up to 78 from a high-3/4 slot, attacking the zone. Flashed a side arm delivery in warm-ups that is intriguing but did not use it vs. hitters.
Strength present with lift to the swing path. Made hard contact to his pull side in BP. Best pop time recorded at 2.00 in the workout.
5-foot-7, 140-pound build with quickness present. Hands are quick with a direct barrel path. Lined balls gap to gap in BP. Barreled balls to both sides of the field in game action.
5-foot-9, 143-pound build. Balanced at the plate with a short swing and quick hands. Lined a ball to left in game play. Ran a 7.05 in the 60.
5-foot-8, 145-pound frame with quickness present. Quick hands with a middle to pull approach in BP. Short path to the ball in game action lining a ball to center field.
Lean athletic frame. Threw on Sunday after a week of football practice. Quick arm from an exaggerated over-the-top slot. Sat 84-85, touching 87 a couple of times. Fastball peaked out of the stretch with a spin rate up to 2370rpm. Top to bottom breaking ball, flashed excellent depth when right at 71-74, 1750rpm.
Athletic frame in an average build. Multiple slots and attached hitters early, showing feel for a high-3/4 and low-3/4 slot. Slot changes kept hitters off balance. Threw a breaking ball from each slot. Fastball ranged 84-86 from the higher slot and 75-81 in the lower slot. Heavy arm side run from the lower slot. Slider at 73-77 from the higher slot. Early 10/4 tilt. Strike thrower.
