On August 16th, at the beautiful Finch Field in Thomasville, NC, PBR NC hosted its inaugural showcase.  With several colleges and pro scouts in attendance,  the players involved ran through a pro-style workout, receiving an evaluation, statistics, and video for their player profile pages.  Below is a look at some of the top underclass performers from the day.

Top Underclass Performers:
Jeremy De Los Santos, SS, Westminster Catawba Christian School, 2018
A strong build and aggressive demeanor from the right handed hitter prduced a quick bat that stayed level through the zone, working gap-to-gap.  Consistantly on the barrel, the exit velocity registered 84mph.  Working at SS with a short high-3/4 slot, De Los Santos showed accuracy with his arm strength measuring 82mph.  There is some strength in his 5-foot-10, 165 pound frame, and most of his projection will come from continued reps.

Danny Allen Fish, C/2B, East Forsyth HS, 2019
A quick twitch athlete that has a feel for the game.  At 5-foot-8, 140 pounds there is some strength in the athletic frame.  As a catcher, athleticism, accuracy, and quickness lead the way.  Fish consistantly registered 2.18-2.28 and on the bag using aggressive footwork and quick, clean exchange.  As a receiver, his hands work well, when he is set, but he has a tendency to slightly waggle as the pitch approaches.  The right handed hitter was pull conscious with average bat speed and some bat wrap on his load from a tall setup.  The swing path is direct and should project as he gains strength. 
 
Lane Hoover, OF, Lincolnton HS, 2018
A quick twitch athlete that ran a 6.88 in the sixty and showed better top end speed with his 4.28 time to first.  At 5-foot-8, 160 pounds Hoover has a small frame but produces some strength, showing the ability to drive balls into the gap, while staying with a solid approach for a quick twitch player.  From a balanced setup, there is better than average bat-speed and he registered an exit velo of 83mph.

Chad Treadway, C, AC Reynolds HS, 2018
A physical 6-foot, 215 pounds, with a strong lower half, Treadway produces arm strength and bat-speed from the strong frame.  Behind the plate, the short arm action produced a crouched velocity of 79, while throwing 1.93-2.06 to second base with average accuracy.  From 3B, the arm action lengthened and produced an infield velocity of 86.  In both spots, Treadway needs to continue to improve his hip flexibility.  As a switch-hitter, the right handed swing seems more polished, utilizing a slight down and up trigger, quick bat, with some sweep.  There is power potential from the left side in the up-hill leveraged swing that needs to show more barrel awareness.  

Zeb Wilcox, RHP, West Wilkes HS, 2018
The right-hander works with a long arm action to produce a quick hand from an over-the-top slot.  The fastball touched 85 and sat 81-84.  While erratic from a delivery that had some effort and recoiled on finish, Wilcox seemed to find better command as the pitch count rose.  The curveball sat 68-70 with gradual arc.  The knuckleball is intriguing as he flashed the ability to be around the zone at 73-75, with cut action
