Quick Hitters: Team Carolina Trials - East Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

On Wednesday July 6th PBR of North Carolina was on hand at Jim Perry Stadium on the campus of Campbell University for the Team Carolina Trials - East. The Team Carolina Trials leads to identifying prospects for some of the summer’s biggest invite only events like, PBR Southeast Senior Games, Top Prospect Games, and the PBR Future Games. The event featured players from the 2023-2026 grad classes.

The Day began with players running a laser timed 60 along with having jumping metrics recorded by Swift Technology. Position Players then took batting practice on the field with Trackman recording ball flight data. After BP, catchers, infielders and outfielders went through a defensive evaluation. The day concluded with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight data.

Below we begin our breakdown of the players in attendance. Look for more information to follow in the coming days.

Quick Hitters

Ethan Wienand, RHP, Cape Fear HS, 2023
Strength present at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds.  Fastball up to 84 with average ride and long run out of the hand.  Still raw, the fastball shows some ability to create issues for hitters as it continues to grow.  Breaking ball is still developing but thrown with intent and occasional 10/4 tilt.  Long, loose arm and over-the-top slot suggests more room to his ceiling in the near future.

Bryce Marsh, OF/RHP, Fuquay-Varina HS, 2026
Athletic with strength for a young frame, standing 5-foot-9, 150 pounds.  Strike thrower peaked at 74.  Profiles more as an outfielder now, but the overall athleticism and feel is intriguing.

Brayden Schear, RHP, Wakefield HS, 2024
Lanky at 6-foot-1, 172 pounds.  Fastball peaked at 76 but pairs with a breaking ball that could create some issues for hitters.  Sharp 10/4 tilt with solid feel.  Long, loose arm action to an over-the-top slot.  As he adds strength the breaking ball may pace the fastball allowing the fastball to play up at times.

Brandon Benkovics, RHP, Wayne Country Day, 2025
Strength present in a young frame at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds.  Short arm action, working to load the scapular out of the glove.  Repeats the arm action and has some timing with the delivery.  Strike thrower with feel for a slider and change-up that are advanced for the age.  The slider peaked at 71mph, 2219rpm.  Good arm speed and deception on the change.  Fastball ranged 79-83 with ride through the zone.

Carter Moore, RHP, South Johnston HS, 2024
Projectable with a lanky frame at 6-foot-6, 180 pounds.  Plenty of room to his ceiling with a solid repertoire on hand.  Fastball peaked at 81 with over 18 inches of induced vertical break.  Showed some feel for the ability to pitch elevated.  As fastball grows, he may be able to create swing and miss in the zone and elevated with his release and ride.  Long arm swing works to an over-the-top slot.  Slight stab and plunge out of the glove but athletic enough to be on time with good direction.  Some uphill leverage in the delivery with a high front side that could create deception.

Jack Brodeur, RHP, CE Jordan HS, 2025
Physical presence with broad shoulders and a strong lower half, standing 6-foot-5, 195 pounds.  Athleticism is present.  Earned an invite to the PBR Future Games with his continued development and will pitch for Team Select during the Future Games.  Fastball ranged 85-87 with good ride and heavy, late, boring run into right handed hitters.  Advanced change-up with excellent hand speed and good feel, working from a similar tunnel as the fastball with fade as it entered the hitting zone.  Fastball spin at 2152rpm.  Change-up spin at 1784rpm.  Breaking ball flashed late 10/4 action.  Lacked the feel he has for the change-up but it does give him a solid 3 pitch mix.

Garrett Arnold, RHP, Fuquay-Varina HS, 2024
Broad shoulders and strength present at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds.  Stretch only, coiling the body through balance, uncoilling to an on-line foot strike.  Long arm action and high-¾ slot.  Solid arm speed.  Fastball at 79-82, 1951rpm.  Slider with side to side action, early out of the hand, but flashing length across the zone.  Pounded the down zone with the fastball and slider combo.

Kaden Morris, RHP, Cleveland HS, 2024
Physical presence with broad shoulders, flexibility and strength in a 6-foot-8, 215 pound frame.  Also plays basketball and may be rounding into form as the summer continues.  Will be with Team Carolina at the PBR Future Games after his bullpen outing at the Team Carolina Trials: East.  Fastball peaked at 90mph, 2359rpm.  Sink metrics are present with a 12:30 spin tilt at release.  Around the zone showing good feel for his glove side.  Breaking ball spun up to 2581rpm with 11/5 tilt.  Hard and late at times from a similar release as the fastball.  Good arm speed on the change-up that is still developing but should be a solid 3rd pitch.

Eli Dadisman, RHP, Willow Springs HS, 2025
Still maturing.   Stands 5-foot-10, 160 pounds.  Strike thrower that pounded the zone with all 3 pitches.  Fastball peaked at 76.  Clean arm action, long swing to an over-the-top slot.  Slight pelvic tilt through balance but repeats the delivery.  Good direction.  Average arm speed.   Change-up showed some fade with a similar tunnel to the fastball.
