QUICK HITTERS
William Sword (RHP, Thales Academy, 2022) – Arm strength right hander with an average build and clean arm action. Simple, easy direction with level shoulders. Fastball peaked at 88 with some arm side life when on the arm side. Good arm speed on the breaking ball, peaking at 77 with solid late tilt.
Alex Steckler (RHP, Olympic HS, 2022) – Highly competitive strike thrower that dominated the bottom half of the zone. Fastball up to 85 from an over-the-top slot with average to above arm speed. Good ride through the zone, creating some swing and miss when elevated. Flooded the zone with a solid mix. Breaking ball has depth at 67-70, working with 10/4 tilt.
Connor Paullin (RHP, Fuquay Varina HS, 2022) – Tall, slender righty committed to Queens College shortly after his outing at the Southeast Unsigned Senior Games. Plenty of projection left as the 6-foot-3 body continues to mature. Sprayed the fastball a little, early in the outing, settling in during his 2nd inning to pound the zone with control more than command. Fastball peaked at 87, solid ride through the zone, with arm side life consistent. Flashed heavy length on the breaking ball, peaking at 74. Around the zone, creating some chase.
Christian Keel (RHP, Community School of Davidson, 2022) – Athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Projection left as the frame matures. Strike thrower that flooded the zone with 3 pitches, moving the fastball to both sides of the plate. Attacked hitters with a mix, keeping them off balance. Soft contact and strikeouts looking throughout the 2 innings of work. Fastball at 84-86 with some sink and run metrics. Breaking ball up to 72 with late 10/4 tilt, creating some length away from right handed hitters. Change-up tumbled and ran to the arm side at 78-81.
Brady Turner (LHP, Oak Grove HS, 2022) – Strength present at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds. Simple delivery, working level with a long arm swing getting to a high-3/4 slot. Good arm speed. Fastball plays up on the peak velocity of 83. Good ride out of the hand with arm side run. Attacked the zone with the fastball. Control over command. Hard, tight, late breaking ball is the calling card. Tends to work for chase, but very effective when in the zone. Velocity ranged 73-77 on the curveball. Flashed a developing change-up for a strike that created discomfort and swing and miss, in the zone, from right handed hitters.
Mac Ketchin (OF/LHP, Wando HS, 2022) – Intriguing dual prospect to follow. Lengthy, athletic frame, standing 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. Quick arm through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball up to 86, flooding the zone and attacking hitters. Sink and run metrics. Heavy run at times to the arm side, tying up righthanded hitters with strikes and balls off the plate. Curveball at 71-74 has 11/5 tilt. Used more for chase, should create soft contact when in the zone.
Ethan Goldstein (SS/RHP, Durham Academy, 2022) – Average build. Athleticism present. Compact delivery and clean arm action. Fastball up to 84 with a peak spin rate of 2288rpm. Sink metrics, getting ground balls in game play. Around the zone. Better feel for the glove side. Worked to get chase on the breaking ball, ranging 71-73 with 10/4 tilt.
