Quick Hitters: On Deck O's Pitchers

On Saturday June 3rd PBR or North Carolina was on hand at Charlotte Latin for a Scout Day with the On Deck O’s, NCBA Golden Spikes and Carolina Prospects. The Scout Day featured players from the 2024-2026 Grad Classes.
The day began with players going through a rotation that involved running a laser timed 60 and taking batting practice on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data. After batting practice, position players went through a defensive evaluation. The scout day concluded with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman gathering information on each pitch.

Quick Hitters - Pitchers
Julius Sellars, RHP, Marvin Ridge HS, 2024
Physical presence. Strong lower half. 6-foot-1, 195 pounds. Strong arm. Fastball peaked at 89.5, 2142rpm. Above average ride through the zone. 12:45 spin tilt at release. Downer action on the breaking ball at 74-75, 2014rpm.
Charlie Collins, RHP, Christ School, 2024
Broad shoulder and strength present at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Long, loose arm swing to an over-the-top slot. Average to above arm speed. Fastball at 86-87, 2095rpm. Some run out of the hand. Good feel for the change-up at 75-78, 1274rpm. Turns it over early. Solid fade metrics from a similar window to the fastball.
JJ Harrell, LHP, Home School, 2024
6-foot, 185 pounds. On-line and direct. Over-the-top slot. Average to above arm speed. Fastball peaked at 86.6, 2271rpm. Plays true out of the hand with solid ride. Good arm speed on the change-up. Some run. Worked 78.7, 1440rpm.
Landon Polk, RHP, Metrolina Christian Academy, 2024
Length present at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. Simple setup and delivery. Reach out of the glove. Long arm to an over-the-top slot. Solid arm speed. Fastball ranged 80-85, 1918rpm. Sink metrics present. Change-up over slider.
Calvin Douglas, RHP, Cuthbertson HS, 2024
Athletic frame, standing 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. Simple leg lift, easily loading the front him. Long, athletic arm swing. Athletic lay back into the cocking phase. Over-the-top with average to above arm speed. Head clears the line. Fastball at 83-85, 2095rpm. Curveball sat 71-72, 2582rpm. Hard 11/5 tilt. Aggressive arm speed. Has intent. Misses were to the arm side with the spin pitch.
Corbin Mickle, RHP, Ardrey Kell HS, 2024
Strike thrower in a large frame. Stands 6-foot-5, 170 pounds. Stable head through an average leg kick. Quiet hands. Sets slightly uphill out of balance. Medium arm swing working to a high-¾. Average to above arm speed. Good direction. Fastball peaked at 83.3, 2045rpm. Some run through the zone. Commanded the breaking ball at the bottom of the zone with 10/4 tilt. Sweep over depth. Averaged 66.7, 2151rpm.
Peyton Dhein, LHP, Catawba Ridge HS (SC), 2024
VMI commit. Lean 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. Different look that could create issues for hitters. Long arm swing. Low-¾ slot. Slight cross-fire. Loose arm with solid arm speed. Fastball at 81-83, 2037rpm. Sink metrics with average to above run out of the hand. Fought to get the breaking ball to the glove side, but shows promise at 71-72, 2416rpm. Chance to see the breaking ball grow with length in the coming year.
Louis Hill, RHP, South Mecklenburg HS, 2024
Physical presence with strength present at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds. Solid direction. Long arm action. Over-the-top. Arm strength over arm speed. Fastball peaked at 82.8, 1810rpm.
Carter Culbreth, RHP, South Iredell HS, 2026
Lean and maturing 6-foot-2, 175 pounds. Stretch. Long arm, plunging out of the glove. Set to uphill with the front side. Solid direction. Fights to be on time with an over-the-top slot. Fastball ranged 74-76, 2191rpm. Sink and run metrics. Rolling, downer breaking ball. Bend begins out of the hand at 63-66, peaking at 2336rpm.
Anthony Smith Jr, RHP, Hickory Ridge HS, 2025
Lean 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Compact and level at balance. Reaches out of the glove working back to the cocking phase as the front side begins to turn. Ball turn is early in the back as he gets to a high-¾ slot. Good arm speed. Fastball at 78-81, 2091rpm. Ball works true out of the hand with sink metrics. Breaking ball works with top to bottom action. Slight hump at release. Ranged 63-65, peaking at 2380rpm.
Caden Beaver, RHP, Lake Norman HS, 2025
6-foot-2, 190 pounds. Straight line build. Long arm swing works back to a position of strength and over-the-top slot. Fastball peaked at 82.3, 2176rpm. Solid ride with 12:30 spin tilt out of the hand. Solid feel for the breaking ball at 69-72, 1636rpm. 10/4 tilt working out of the hand.

Long and lanky at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds. Long arm swing. Loose. Works back to an over-the-top slot. Fastball peaked at 82.3, 2031rpm. Solid feel for the fastball, moving it to both sides. Top to bottom action on the breaking ball. Slight hump out of the hand. Peaked at 67.5, 2186rpm.
William Parker, RHP, West Cabarrus, 2026
Average frame. 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. Level with solid direction. Short arm action, loading the scapular out of the glove. Ball turned early. Fastball plays true, occasionally cutting at 80-82, 1968rpm. Sweeping action out of the hand on the breaking ball, sitting 72-74, 1965rpm.
