Player Evals: Triad Prospect ID Outfielders

PBR was at Forbush High School on Saturday November 21st to host the Triad Prospect ID with Advanced Analytics. Sixty-two players were involved, running through a full pro-style workout.
The field at Forbush was in immaculate shape, giving the players a good opportunity to show off their skills in the workout setting. The day started with bullpens and catcher pop times. As the full roster of position players showed, the pro-style workout began with a laser timed 60, followed by an offensive evaluation and defensive evaluation. During the live BP, TrackMan was used to track ball flight and provide advanced info on each player. At the same time, Blast Motion sensors were used to give feedback on each hitters swing path and pre-contact analytics.
During the bullpens, at the outset of the workout, TrackMan was used to track ball flight out of the hand, giving feed back with advanced analytics as well as standard velocity readings.

Josh Jordan OF / Wesleyan Christian, NC / 2021
Positional Profile: OF.
Body: 5/10, 180 pounds. Strong build, quickness present.
Defense: Plays relaxed through the ball, soft hands, catches the ball in front of his left foot, clean transfers.
Arm: R. OF - 86 mph. Quick arm, accurate with carry, long arm action, over the top slot.
Hit: R. Narrow, open base with knee bend, barrel flat on back shoulder. Short stride to even, quiet hands. Hits off his back leg, lift to the swing path, gets extension out front, quickness to his hands, works through the middle and to his pull side.
Power: 82 mph exit velocity from the tee. Above average bat speed.
Run:7.33 runner in the 60.

Positional Profile: OF/1B.
Body: 5/11, 175 pounds. Strong build.
Defense: Plays through the ball, relaxed hands, catches the ball in front of his right foot, clean transfers.
Arm: R. OF - 84 mph. Accurate, medium arm stroke, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: R. Balanced, even base, hands above back shoulder. Hands load down and back, short stride. Barrel is short to the ball, stays through the zone, quick hands with strength, lots of balls off the barrel lining balls to both gaps.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. Has strength with above average bat speed.

Positional Profile: OF/1B.
Body: 6/4, 190 pounds. Long, lanky frame, room to add strength.
Defense: Fluid actions through the ball, soft hands, catches the ball in front of his left foot, clean transfers.
Arm: R. OF - 82 mph. Accurate, long arm action, over the top slot.
Hit: R. Upright, open base, hands at back shoulder. Toe tap, average stride, hands load back. Quick hands, lift to the barrel path, gets extension out front, works middle and to his pull side.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Has pop off the barrel, above average bat speed.

Defense: OF-Aggressive through the ball, catches the ball in front of his left foot, average hands, clean exchanges. IF-Active feet, catches the ball near center, average hands.
Arm: R. INF - 73 mph. OF - 76 mph. OF-Medium arm stroke, high 3/4 slot, some accuracy. IF-Accurate, short arm action, 3/4 slot.
Hit: R. Open base, barrel flat over back shoulder. Small leg kick, sits into legs, short stride, hands load back. Quick hands, stays through the ball, slightly uphill barrel path, lined balls gap to gap.

Positional Profile: OF/2B.
Body: 5/7, 135 pounds. Thin, young frame, room for maturation ahead.
Defense: Plays through the ball, catches the ball in front of his left foot, clean exchanges.
Arm: R. OF - 75 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot, accurate.
Hit: R. Upright, narrow, slightly open base, hands above back shoulder. Hands load back, average stride back to even. Level barrel path through the zone, some quickness to his hands, barrel gets extension out front with a middle of the field approach.
Power: 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. Average bat speed, numbers should improve with added strength.

Body: 6/1, 158 pounds. Athletic build, room for growth ahead, quickness present.
Defense: 2.12-2.26 pop times. OF-Plays through the ball, relaxed hands, catches the ball in front of his left foot, clean exchanges. C-Quick feet, clean transfers across the midsection, one knee setup receiving, average to above hands.
Arm: R. C - 78 mph. OF - 85 mph. OF-Accurate with some carry, long arm action, over the top slot. C-Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: R. Open base, hands at back shoulder. Short stride back to even, small hand load. Quick hands, barrel works down to the ball, higher two-hand finish, works to his pull side.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. Has strength to his pull side, average to above pull side.
Run:7.18 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Small rocker and pivot on the 1B side. Lift to the mid-chest. Stable head. Loads the backside, working level and on-line. Lands in-line and square. Good direction. Deliberate through the delivery. Finishes with some balance.
Arm Action: R. Long arm swing works to a position of strength and high-3/4 slot, somewhat out of the sleeve. Average to above arm speed.
FB: T84, 80-84 mph. 2106 rpm. Good ride through the zone with a 12:45 spin tilt at release. Some run, more when working to the arm side. Elevated at times, but may be able to work up there, especially as velocity increases.
CB: 72-73 mph. 1991 rpm. Short, hard, downer action. May lack swing and miss metrics, but shows an ability to create discomfort vs. hitters. Has feel for the bottom of the zone.
CH: 77-79 mph. 1688 rpm. Firm, but thrown with good arm speed. Slight run to the arm side.

Delivery: Lift to the belt with a stable head, gathering on the backside. Stays level. Slightly closed to balance, lands on-line and square. Good backside action working to release. Athletic finish
