Wednesday July 22nd saw PBR on site at JP Riddle Stadium to host a Scout Day with Arsenal Baseball.  The organization had close to 50 players in attendance, ranging from 2021 - 2024 graduates.

A PBR Scout Day consists of a full pro-style workout for position players with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen.  The position players run a laser timed 60 followed by a full offensive workout and defensive workout.  The pitchers controlled bullpen has arms throwing each of their pitches with TrackMan and a radar gun tracking velocity, spin rate, and other metrics.

Aidan Cannaday 1B / OF / Fuquay-Varina , NC / 2021   Queens University commit Positional Profile: 1B/LHP. Body: 6/2, 230 pounds. Large frame, strength present. Defense:  Active feet, feel around the first base bag, relaxed hands, clean transitions. Arm: L.  INF - 78 mph.  Short arm action, high 3/4 slot, some accuracy. Hit: L. Even base, relaxed hands just below back shoulder. Fluid load against back leg, short stride, hands get ready to attack. Hands are loose and quick, leverage in the swing, barrel stays through the zone, consistent barrels to both gaps. Power: 95 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Power present with strength and bat speed. Run: runner in the 60.

Wyatt Goforth 3B / OF / Holly Springs , NC / 2023 Positional Profile: 3B/OF. Body: 5/9, 165 pounds. Average frame, room to add strength. Defense:  Active feet with quickness, catches the ball out front, average to above average hands, clean exchanges. Arm: R.  INF - 72 mph.  Long arm action, uses different arm slots, some accuracy. Hit: R. Open base, hands at back shoulder. Short stride, hands cock back. Short to ball, mostly level bat path, gets extension out front, some quickness to the hands, uses the whole field. Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed, numbers should improve with added strength. Run:7.43 runner in the 60.

Nolan Lawrence 3B / RHP / Northern Guilford, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 157 / POS: 13   Positional Profile: 3B/RHP. Body: 6/2, 190 pounds. Strong build. Defense:  Feet work around the ball, catches the ball left of center, average hands, clean transitions. Arm: R.  INF - 81 mph.  Accurate with some carry, short arm action high 3/4 slot. Hit: R. Strong open base, barrel flat over back shoulder. Small leg kick against his back hip, short stride, hands load back. Quick hands, flat barrel path through the zone, line drive approach working middle and to his pull side, has barrel feel. Power: 89 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Ball comes hard off the barrel, above average bat speed. Run:7.17 runner in the 60.

Kaden Smith 1B / C / Western Alamance, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 113 / POS: 3   Positional Profile: 1B/C. Body: 6/2, 200 pounds. Strong build. Defense:  IF-Fluid feet, soft hands, clean exchanges. C-Quick feet, clean transfers across his chest, hands have strength receiving. Arm: R. C - 77 mph. INF - 68 mph.  IF-Accurate, short arm action, high 3/4 slot. C-Accurate, some carry, short arm action, over the top slot. Hit: R. Slightly open, strong base, hands at back shoulder. Leg kick against his back hip, small hand load. Quick hands, uphill barrel path, gets barrel to the ball, uses the whole field. Power: 95 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Above average bat speed, can drive the baseball. Run:7.3 runner in the 60.

Cameron Stapleton 3B / C / Franklinton , NC / 2024   Positional Profile: 3B/C. Body: 6/1, 170 pounds. Tall, slightly open, narrow base, barrel flat over back shoulder. Toe tap, short stride, small hand load. Defense:  Active feet, fights to get his hands and feet in sync at times, average hands, clean transfers. Arm: R.  INF - 75 mph.  Accurate, short arm action, feel for using different arm slots. Hit: R. Direct barrel path, mostly level through the zone, works middle and to his pull side. Power: 82 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed, numbers should improve with added strength. Run:7.77 runner in the 60.

Ethan Wilkins 1B / 3B / Purnell Swett, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 206 / POS: 6   Positional Profile: 1B/3B. Body: 6/2, 220 pounds. Strong build. Defense:  Has feel around the first base bag, relaxed hands, clean transfers. Arm: R.  INF - 77 mph.  Accurate, short arm action, high 3/4 slot. Hit: R.
