PBR Scout Day Evaluations: Top Prospect Baseball Underclass Players

PBR summer evaluations are rolling right along. PBR was on hand for a combined scout day with Top Prospect Baseball and the Punisher Prospects. Each team's players had the opportunity to go through a full pro-style workout prior to playing in controlled scrimmages.
Today we take a look at players participating from the Top Prospect Baseball program. Top Prospect Baseball Underclass Evaluations
Alex Frank 3B / C / Asheville, NC / 20235 foot 9, 130-pound average build. Hits from the right side with a balanced lower half with his hands starting in front of his chest with some barrel waggle. Hands work back during the load with a short stride. Shoulders get pointed uphill at times causing some length in the swing. Gap to gap approach with his exit velocity recorded at 73 mph and should improve as the body matures. Feet work through his throws to second base, exchanging across his chest with a medium arm stroke, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Some feel for the bag on his throws to second base with his arm topping at 70 mph from a crouched position. Pop times ranged from 2.28-2.45. Looks to work around the ball on the infield, playing through the ball with some stiffness in his hands at catch. Funnels to the midsection after catch with a clean exchange, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Some accuracy to his throws across the diamond with his arm topping at 68 mph. Recorded a 7.90 in the 60. |
Davis Hayes RHP / OF / Asheville, NC / 20235 foot 11, 142-pound average build. Offensively he works from the right side with a wider base. Short quick load with a short stride and his hands working slightly back. Some quickness to his hands working through the zone. Some feel for the barrel working mostly middle to his pull side. Keeps his barrel in the zone, getting extension out front. Average bat speed with his exit velocity recorded at 75 mph. Uses a long arm action from the outfield, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Waits on the ball not getting much momentum through the ball with his arm topping at 71 mph. Arm topped at 74 mph with some carry across the infield. Works to the ball with some stiffness through catch. Recorded a 7.43 in the 60. |
Connor Hillier OF / 2B / Asheville, NC / 20235 foot 6, 140-pound young frame. Hits from the right side using a balanced setup. Short stride during his load, maintaining a quiet, flat barrel. Keeps his barrel in the zone with better than average barrel awareness. Works middle to his pull side with solid bat speed for his age. Exit velocity recorded at 72 mph. Uses a long arm action from the outfield, throwing from a high ¾ slot with some accuracy to his throws. Longer exchange with his arm reaching 73 mph from the outfield. Works to the ball on the infield, staying balanced at the catch position with average hands. Accurate arm across the diamond that topped at 72 mph. Recorded a 7.43 in the 60. |
Colton Ingle RHP / 3B / A.C. Reynolds, NC / 20226 foot, 161-pound average build with room to fill out. Threw all fastballs during his outing on the mound, going right at the hitters. Uses a small rocker step from the windup going into an average leg lift. In line to the plate with a square toe landing. Short arm action, throwing form a high ¾ slot. Fastball ranged from 68-71 mph with run to his arm side at times. |
Eric Krumpe C / 3B / Asheville, NC / 20226 foot, 150-pound lanky, projectable build. Hits from the left side with a toe to toe setup and with slightly more weight on his back leg. Weight and hands work back during the load with a toe tap. Works mostly to his pull side with an uphill bat path with some length in the swing. Average bat speed with his exit velocity recorded at 71 mph. Quick feet with a quick exchange across the chest, using a short arm action, throwing from an over the top slot. Accurate arm to second base that topped at 72 mph from a crouch position. Pop times ranged from 2.23-2.29. Plays through balls on the infield with average hands, funneling to the belt after catch with a short arm action, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Accurate arm across the diamond that topped at 74 mph. Recorded a 7.54 in the 60. |
