North Carolina's Top 25 Outfield Arms of 2018
January 15, 2019
The New Year is here and the high school season is just around the corner. In preparation for the 2019 spring season, PBR will run several events in January and February, allowing our scouts to get updates on players, and allowing players to continue their process of prep for the spring while connecting to the college coaches and pro scouts that follow PBR.
Before we turn the page on 2018, lets look back at some of the statistically dominant performances of last year. At PBR events, PBR scouts are able to collect some analytical data and add it to PBR Player Profile pages. With over 8 million PBR Player Profile page views in 2018, PBR has created a one-stop-shop for college coaches and pro scouts to view a prospect’s notes, evaluations, video, statistics, and more.
We continue our look at the top stats of 2018 with positional velocities from outfielders. At each PBR event, outfielders workout as part of the pro-style workout. In the evaluation of outfielders, scouts are looking for arm strength, arm action, accuracy, and carry. While the radar gun does not give us all of the needed information, it can gives us a peak at who has arm strength, throwing from the outfield. Below are the top 25 infield velocities from North Carolina players at PBR events in 2018.
The top 2 infield arms from 2018 come from 2018 graduates that attended the 2018 NC ProCase in February. Both Trent Harris and Sam Zayicek are attending High Point University now. At No. 3 is a 2020 shortstop at Pro5 Academy, Daniel Stephens. Stephens lit it up at the Performance Academy Open Scout Day at Campbell in November.
The top two arm grades from 2018 come from 2018 graduates at the PBR ProCase in February. At No. 3 is Trey Truitt who put up explosive numbers as a member of Team Carolina at the PBR Future Games in August.
