Nine to Know: Top Breaking Balls from Recent Scout Days

Throughout the fall, PBR scouts have been across the state watching players and programs.  One of the events offered to area programs is a PBR Scout Day.  In the PBR Scout Day, PBR is able to evaluate players from each organization in a setting that is designed to see players at their best. 

Today in Nine to Know we take a little different path from most weeks.  Instead of diving deep on 9 players, we are taking a deep dive into multiple statistical avenues with pitchers from recent scout days.  In each statistical category, we will look at the top 9 performances from recent scout day.  This week we dive into some of the top breaking balls seen at recent scout days.

Top Curveballs

Curveball - Average Spin Rate
High spin rate on a breaking ball can lend itself to the overall movement on the pitch.  There are many factors that can contribute to above average curveballs, but most of the top breaking balls have a high spin rate.
