Lake Norman Slides Past Hough; Jarvis Punches 10
Lake Norman leveled their two-game series with Hough on Friday night, each taking the road game. The story of the game was the two starting pitchers with Justin Jarvis and Jake Whitman matching each other pitch-for-pitch. Hough used several standout defensive plays, throwing two runners out at the plate, to keep the game within reach for the entirety.
In the 7th, Jarvis walked the first two hitters of the inning before yielding to Sam Zayicek to close the game. Zayicek, coming in from right field, with runners on 1st and 2nd, bounced a two-strike breaking ball to move the winning run into scoring position. Zayicek never flinched, striking out the first two hitters he faced and getting the final out of the game on a slow come-backer.
Lake Norman, currently No. 1 in the PBR/NCBCA Coaches Poll improved to 9-1. Hough drops to 7-3.
