On Sunday November 6^th, Prep Baseball Report converged on Moor Park in Mooresville, NC to run the NC Prospect Fall Review.  Players from across the state converged to run through a pro-style workout with the coaches and scouts of PBR.  The final positional group to look at is the outfielders.

 

+8 players worked out in the outfield

+5 outfielders showed arm strength of better than 80mph

+All 8 outfielders registered exit velocities (offensive) of better than 82mph

+4 had exit velocities of better than 86mph

+4 outfielders posted 60 times of better than 7.20

Outfielders

Reid Mayers, OF, Charlotte Christian School, NC (2018)

6-foot, 174 pound left handed hitter that has advanced skills in the box.  Athletic setup with a smooth load and short stride.  Lower half works, finishing with balance.  Good approach and above average bat speed produce a level swing with gap-to-gap intentions.  Good rhythm throughout produced a direct path and good barrel awareness.  Ran a 7.19 in the sixty.  From the outfield, showed a short arm stroke into a high-3/4 slot with average accuracy.  Feet and hands worked heavy to the ball, while the arm strength topped at 82mph.

 

Matthew Pierson, OF, Piedmont HS, NC (2017)

Solid strength level in the 5-foot-11, 175 pound frame.  Exit velocity, from the right handed hitter, topped at 86mph.  Sits slightly open, with an athletic crouch and his hands posted by his ear.  Short stride gets him back to even, producing above average bat speed geared to extension and the pull side.  Average rhythm allowed for some barrel awareness.  Flashed some carry on the baseball with the arm speed measuring 81mph.  Short arm stroke to a high-3/4 slot has some effort.  Accuracy was average.  Ran the sixty in 7.31

 

Trey Tujetsch, OF, Ardrey Kell HS, NC (2019)

Extremely versatile with a solid fundamental base.  The 5-foot-10, 160 pounder shows average to above tools in several facets of his game.  Ran his sixty in 7.05, and continued the theme of athleticism and quickness with an arm speed measured at 85mph.  Loose arm works to a high-3/4 with above average accuracy and carry.  Offensively, the right handed hitter works from an athletic base with a smooth load back and short stride.  Lower half works, creating looseness in the swing, with at least average bat speed.  Direct path produced line drives, working gap-to-gap, with well above average barrel awareness.  Some wrap in the bat at the load position and some body coil, but it did not seem to bother the swing that works with good rhythm.  Exit velocity topped at 82mph.

 

Matthew Barrett, OF, Reagan HS, NC (2017)

Showed strength in the 5-foot-11, 165 pound frame.  Right handed hitter registered an exit velocity of 86mph.  Works from a tall bas, short stride, and lacks a hand load.  Better than average batspeed lead to a gap-to-gap approach.  Long at time, and rushed through his setup, the barrel awareness can improve.  From the outfield, used a short arm arc to a high-3/4 slot with above average accuracy.  Arm speed measured at 74mph.

 

Madisyn Bolin, OF, Kings Mountain HS, NC (2017)

Athletic with some quickness in the 6-foot, 160 pound frame.  Right handed hitter starts from a tall setup and short stride, while lacking a hand load with a vertical bat.  Better than average bat speed.  Level bat path geared to pull.  Direct path with average barrel awareness.  From the outfield, arm strength measured at 86mph with a long loose arm arc to an over-the-top slot that has some whip to the release point.  Good carry and accuracy.  Ran a 7.20 sixty.

 

Ethan Haislip, OF, Cuthbertson HS, NC (2019)

Athletic with some quick twitch strength in the 5-foot-10, 153 pound frame.  Ran a 7.13 sixty.  Utilized a long arm action to a high-3/4 slot to produce good carry and an arm speed of 78mph.  Offensively, the left handed hitter is slightly rushed with his load, working from a tall stance with a vertical bat.  Short stride and good back side transfer lead to a line drive approach that tends to work inside out at times.  Loose and athletic with the swing, the barrel can be thin through the ball at times.  Exit velocity topped at 83mph.

 

Jason Hudak, OF, Southlake Christian Academy, NC (2018)

Athletic with strength filtering into all facets of his game.  The 6-foot-1, 175 pounder flashed solid fundamentals throughout the day.  From the outfield the arm strength measured 87mph, working with a short arm swing to his high-3/4 slot.  Good carry and accuracy.  Offensively, the righty has looseness and barrel awareness, while producing an exit velocity of 92mph.  Working with a vertical bat and tall setup, creates some leverage, while aggressively seeking extension and pull side power.  Good rhythm throughout the BP.  Ran the sixty in 7.31.
