Player of the Week nominations are submitted by High School coaches across North Carolina each week. Along with the nominations, Prep Baseball Report is diving into box scores, talking to coaches and scouts, and attending as many games as possible.
This past week pitchers were dominate with many posting absurd numbers. Five no-hitters were reported and a Perfect Game. Several hitters had big weeks, closing out the regular season strong, with many putting their teams in championship positions.
This week two players share the PBR NC Player of the Week honors. The first honoree is the first ever multiple week award winner and first ever back-to-back week award winner. Gavin Williams, an East Carolina commit, has come back strong after some time on the disabled list early in the year. Throwing his second consecutive no-hitter, Williams has Cape Fear eyeing a deep run in May. This week in the 2-0 win over Jack Britt, Williams was up to 95 in the first, and touching 93 vs. the last batter faced.
This week's other Player of the Week goes to Spring Creek HS Junior 3B, Christian Yarborough. Yarborough had a week to remember at the plate collecting 13 hits in 14 at bats. Finding the barrel consistantly, his week kept Spring Creek in the hunt for the 2nd spot in the Carolina 1A standings.
