NC: On The Ropes, Fuquay Answers Big

PBR was on hand in Fuquay-Varina HS as  the 28th seed Chapel Hill HS gave Fuquay Varina HS all they could handle for 4 1/2 innings. Fuquay entered the game at 19-7 with a No. 13 seed.  Chapel Hill entered the game off of 2 upsets in the tournament with an overall record of 16-13.

Chapel Hill got on the board in the 2nd without a hit, using 2 HBP and a walk to eventually scoring on an throwing error on a stolen base.  Fuquay would bounce back scoring 3 with 2 outs in the 3rd on back to back doubles from HL Smith and Andrew Keller.

Chapel Hill got a leadoff HR from Tyler Stillson in the 4th to cut the lead to 4-2, but Fuquay got a 2 out double from JJ Dobson followed by a Bobby Osburn triple to get the back to 2 runs.

Chapel Hill took the lead in the top of the 5th with a 4 runs, keyed by four, no out singles.  Now down 6-4, Fuquay used 9 walks and a HBP to erupt for 12 runs in the bottom half.  The final run scored on an error to invoke the 10 run rule.

Fuquay will host the 4th round 4A East semi-finals, hosting Topsail HS who defeated No. 1 New Hanover HS on Tuesday.  Chapel Hill’s thrilling run comes to an end at 16-14.
