NC: NRCA Picks Up Non-Conference Win Over East Wake Academy

PBR was on hand at North Raleigh Christian Academy on Monday for a non-conference matchup between East Wake Academy and the Knights of North Raleigh.  East Wake Academy entered 10-2 on the year while NRCA sat at 7-9 entering the contest.  

Jake Blackburn toed the rubber for the Knights and held the Eagle scoreless for 2 innings.  The Knights took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Cameron Brown steal of home plate, and a Joey Chitla run scored via a passed ball. 

NRCA added to their lead in the 2nd.  Corban Doyle scored on Karson Knox's  hard line drive to the left fielder.  Chitla would score again, later in the inning on another passed ball.  At the end of two full innings the Knights would lead 4-0.  

The Eagles would claw their way back into the game, cutting the lead to 4-2 as the game headed to the bottom of the 5th.  Drew Lanphere scored in the 3rd on Austin Brown’s SAC Fly.  In the 5th, Jay Canipe led off with a walk and scored on a Dean Williams double to center.

NRCA would quickly answer, plating 6 in the bottom of the 5th.  Jim Matson led the inning off with a double.  David Mertz RBI single scored Matson to start the big inning.  A Matson single later in the half would score Karson Knox with the Knights’ 10th run of the game.

With the win North Raleigh Christian moved to 8-9.  They added a win to start a two game series with Ravenscroft on Tuesday to move to .500 on the year and 3-4 in the NCISAA Triangle Conference.  They will conclude their regular season with Ravenscroft on Thursday.  East Wake Academy dropped to 10-3.  They will conclude their regular season with a conference game vs. Franklin Academy on Thursday.  The Eagles are currently tied for the top spot in the Super Six 1A/2A Conference at 4-1.
