North Carolina Director of Scouting
The South Atlantic Border Battle features select players from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic. Players are selected from the 2018 and 2019 graduating classes to represent their respective area. Each team is coached by area scouts. Each team works through a semi pro-style workout with BP followed by game action on day 1. Day 2 consists of BP in the batting cages followed by an extended infield/outfield session.
Day 2 saw the two North Carolina teams play the late games. The 2018s (Red Sox) matched up with the Giants, representing Virginia. The 2019s (Braves) faced off with the South Carolina team repping the Mets.
DAY 2 NOTEBOOK
The event itself is dominated by pitching and that was the case again on Sunday. Pitchers only face six hitters per inning and most were limited to two innings. This format means hitters will get one shot at each arm. Good talent on the bump, plus the limited at-bats, allows pitchers to attack, with best stuff. Hard, barreled contact was at a premium. This did not keep position players from standing out during the day, along with the arms.
