On Tuesday, June 27th just over 30 players accepted an invitation from Charlie Young, Jr. to participate in an annual showcase game that has continued to get bigger and bigger. The Michael Jordan Nissan Dirty 30 has hosted numerous top draft picks, college All-Americans, and state players of the Year. Driven to be a high level scouting event, the cost of the event is picked up by sponsors and hosted at the Durham Athletic Park in Durham, NC
This year's roster included several top ranked players and players that have some helium to their name as their summers have gotten off to good starts. Pitching dominated the day with the Red and Black teams both going scoreless through the first eight frames of the nine inning game.
Players at the event participated in a full pre-game, including BP, infield/outfield, and the position players ran a 60. PItchers threw 1-2 innings in a scrimmage situation. Below is a comprehensive look at the stats from the day, including 60 times, home to first times, and pitcher velocities.
