NC: 2018 Top Prospect Games Preview: Catchers
July 19, 2018
On Tuesday July 24th, close to 80 of the top 2019 and 2020 players from across North Carolina will converge on Boshamer Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina. Each player has been assigned to a team. Position players will go through an offensive and defensive workout, followed by live game action where the pitchers will throw two controlled innings.
In last year's inaugural NC Top Prospect Games, over 50 players took part with 40 of the 2018 graduates in attendance making their college commitment after the event. There were over 15 college and universities represented and 8 pro organizations. With the roster for the 2019 event nearing completion, this will be an event college coaches and pro scouts will attend.
Diving into the roster we will take a look at several of the catchers scheduled to attend. By all accounts the 2019 class of catchers is deep across the state and that depth will be showcased on Tuesday at Chapel Hill. Ten catchers will be in attendance with each working out behind the plate prior to their game, showcasing their arm strength and agility. They will also take multiple rounds of BP prior to playing in their controlled scrimmage.

Uncommitted. Strong build at 6 feet 1, 190-pounds. Has fluid feet and quick exchanges behind the plate. Accurate arm with pop times between 2.00-2.15. Hits from the left side and looks to get extension to drive the baseball. Exit velocity has been up to 84 mph and should get better using more lower half in his swing.
