SouthLake Christian – 4                Metrolina Christian – 5

PBR was on hand for the semifinals of the MAC Tournament with Metrolina Christian hosting SouthLake Christian.  The winner would advance to play Hickory Grove Christian who downed Gaston Day 13-0 in their semifinal.

A pitchers dual early, with the wind blowing in and each starting pitcher attacking the strike zone, SouthLake Christian would find a way to plate two runs in the 3^rd keyed by a 2 out single from Derek Farley (1B, 2021, Caldwell CC commit).  SouthLake starting pitcher Tyler Herkey (2021 LHP) would make those runs stand up into the 6^th inning.

In the 5^th, SouthLake would extend their lead by courtesy of 3 walks in the inning, and a single from Tyler Herkey.  Herkey worked into the 6^th inning, pounding the zone throughout his 93 pitch performance, throwing 52 strikes.

In the 6^th, Herkey would begin to tire, walking the first three hitters of the inning.  He did pick off the initial batter-runner, so with 1 out, and two on, Freshman shortstop Perry Hargett stepped to the plate.   On a 2-2 count, Hargett would launch a game tying homer over the left field wall.

The game remained tied into the 10^th.  SouthLake stranded a runner on 3B with one out in the 8^th.  Both relief arms controlled the contest other than the one chance.

In the 10^th, a two out single from Farley plated Jim Burnham, giving SouthLake a 4-3 lead.  Metrolina got things going in their half with a 1 out hit by pitch, followed by a triple from Brian Kearns, scoring Hargett.  With two outs and runners on 2^nd and 3^rd, Jackson Robbins singled to right scoring Kearns and advancing Metrolina to the Tournament Championship.
