Kaler & Murdock Lead Northwest Past Robinson
April 30, 2021
Jay M Robinson – 2 Northwest Cabarrus – 4
Strong pitching and one big inning led the Trojans of Northwest Cabarrus to a home win over Jay M Robinson on Thursday evening.
The Trojans came out aggressive offensively, plating 4 runs in the 1st inning. With one out Caden Grider singled to left and moved to 2B on a walk. With two on, Chase Ervin got on base with an infield single. With the bases loaded, Michael Specht singled to center, scoring Grider. Another single, this time from Caden Parker scores Michael Gracer. The fourth single in a row came from Dalton Hazlett, scoring Specht and Kade Platt.
Staked to the 4 run lead, SO LHP Terry Kaler went to work. Kaler worked into the 6th inning, staying out of trouble for the first five. He threw 82 pitches, 49 for strikes, striking out 5, while issuing 2 walks.
In the sixth Robinson looked to make a run. Tyler Grady singled to left to start the inning, advancing to 2B via a stolen base. Grady would then steal 3B and score on a balk. Two walks sandwiched a fielder’s choice putting runners on 1st and 2B with 1 out. Northwest went to the bullpen for JR RHP Mason Murdock. Max Arstark singled to right, plating Blake Anderson. Murdock induced a pop up and a ground ball to end the threat.
In the 7th, Murdock would punch the first two hitters, gathering a save for his 2 innings of work.
Blake Anderson worked 4 innings in the loss for Robinson, giving up 4 runs in the first but settling in to throw three scoreless afterwards. Luke Anderson would work the final 2 innings, surrendering 2 hits and 1 walk but no runs.
