Game Recap:
North Mecks bats started aggressive but quickly simmered as the game progressed. Mooresville's pitching staff showed to be dominate just enough to keep North Meck off balance.
The bottom half of the first started with 2 walks for Mooresville. Cameron Clonch followed with a bases clearing triple to push Mooresville ahead of the Vikings, 2-0. A double from Tafton Hensley pushed Clonch across and pushed the lead to 3-0 after 1.
Mooresville would add one run in the 2nd. Aterwards the game would settle, moving to the bottom of the 5th at 4-1. In the Blue Devils 5th inning, they would score 2 more runs. The inning started with two outs. Clonch reached via walk, Davis Turner was hit by a pitch. Andrew Martin hit a ground ball to third that was misplayed, allowing the inning to continue where Hensley earned an RBI on a walk and Nick Merriman’s single brought home the 6th run of the game or Mooresville.
The Blue Devils were able to end the game with a big 6th inning, plating 5 runs. The inning included North Meck issuing 4 walks before Martin hit a two run homerun to left scoring Alexander Coleman to end the game with the 10 run rule.
North Meck will continue to build toward the future with several young players that will continue to help the program grow. Junior Sam Fleming continues to show a direct path to the ball when at bat and freshman Cole Hart is showing he can hold down the catcher position.
