Impact Spotlight: Three Uncommitted Catchers with Upside
October 28, 2017
Players seem to be committing earlier and earlier. As the National Letter of Intent signing date of November 8 – 15, 2017 approaches, the class of 2018 players are working to solidfy their plans. In a recent Recruiting Essentials article on PBR, we addressed the number of players committed at this time, compared to the total number of players that committed to play in the 2017 class. For the currently uncommitted, there is still time and there are teams still working to finalize their 2018-2019 rosters.
Over the next several weeks, we will look at some of the currently uncommitted players that PBR has had the chance to evaluate. Each of these players have video and statistical information on their profiles as well. This week we will profile three dual position / pitchers. Each has a chance to impact a lineup in several ways.
Today we zero in on three more catchers in the North Carolina 2018 class. A deep crop of catchers in the state has left several, that could make an early impact at the next level, on the board. Joshua Harvey attended the Preseason All-State event in Charlotte in January. A frame that oozes projection, there is carry to the baseball on throws now. Sam Edwards attended two PBR events this past summer, the Top Prospect Games at UNC and the South Charlotte Panther Scout Day in September. The lanky frame suggests a lot of growth still to come. Andrew Vladyka also attended the Top Prospect Games at UNC. A good athlete that has a chance to play a couple of different positions, there is carry and accuracy present from behind the dish now.
