Greensboro Prospect ID: Infielder Analysis
November 5, 2018
On Saturday October 27th, Prep Baseball Report ran an open prospect ID at North Carolina A&T’s War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, NC. The field was in excellent shape considering the remnants of Hurricane Michael, that made landfall near Texas, from the Gulf, tracked through the Triad area on Friday, dumping over 12 hours of rain. The Aggie staff and players had the field ready to go for the workout, allowing close to twenty players from across North Carolina workout, update their statistics and video, and receive an evaluation from PBR’s trusted scouting staff.
The laser timed 60 may have been the only aspect of the day affected by all of the rain from the day prior, run on a slightly soft track. Position players continued their day after the sixty, with an extensive offensive and defensive workout. PBR Scouts were able to assemble evaluations and updated statistics on each player in attendance.
Pitchers concluded the day, throwing a controlled bullpen. Velocity was taken on each pitch and PBR scouts were able to asses a current and future projection on each arm.
There were eight primary infielders that worked out on the day. An impressive group featured several players that also worked out on the mound. 2020 1B Hogan Stallings is a physical presence on the left side of the box, as is 2020 MIF Trevor Faulkner. 2021 Dylan Koontz impressed with his name popping up on several leader boards in the statistical analysis from the day.
