Commitment Tracker: In-State JUCO Signees
November 30, 2021
The early signing period for NCAA schools allows prospects that have committed to put pen to paper, making the commitment official and biding. PBR works to track commitments of high school and junior college players, adding to a search-able database that can be used by players as they are working to get a feel for the process, how schools of interest approach recruiting, and to see how similar players have faired at their selected schools.
Based on a three year study from 2016 – 20219, PBR Scouts estimate the state of North Carolina will typically produce approximately 500 college baseball players with each graduating class. Over the past couple of years, the state of North Carolina has seen that number drop, as schools at every level of college are working to manage their roster with players receiving extra years based on COVID-19 interruptions in seasons.
During the three year study, less than 50% of the players in NC that would go on to play college baseball had committed by the time of the early signing period. Those numbers seemed to stand-up over the past couple of COVID years. This fall, the class of 2022 saw 209 players in North Carolina committed to play college baseball at the early signing period.
