PBR continued its pursuit to identify the top players in the state of North Carolina on Thursday October 10, 2019 at War Memorial Stadium, home of the North Carolina A&T Aggies, as part of the College Campus ID.  Players in attendance were able to go through a full pro-style workout with PBR Scouts collecting stats, notes, and video.  In the coming days, PBR will post a full statistical breakdown as well as complete look at each player in attendance with video and an evaluation.

We begin our look at the College Campus ID from Greensboro with some Quick Hitters on some of the players in attendance.  Our scouts are still working their way through all the notes and will have much more information on the players in attendance in the coming days.  The players below made a quick impression on PBR scouts.

Position Players

Luke Adams, 3B, Carrboro HS, 2022 - Athletic and physical.  Showcased above average bat speed driving the ball to his pull side during batting practice.  Aggressive swing with strength present. 

Anthony Mitta, SS/OF, Leesville Rd HS, 2021 - Left hand hitter with a loose, fluid stroke.  Drove the ball gap to gap with quick hands.  Has feel for his barrel making consistent hard contact. 

Tyler Minneci, 3B/1B, Cardinal Gibbons, 2022 - Consistently drove the ball during his batting practice rounds.  Has strength with better than average feel for his barrel.

Talor Grubbs, 2B, Southeast Guilford HS, 2022 - Fluid stroke with a direct barrel path to the ball.  Hit a lot of line drives to both gaps showing a knack for finding his barrel.

Peter Maldonado, C/3B, Heritage HS, 2021 - Fluid swing from the left side. Has some strength to pull side and showed the ability to line balls to the opposite field gap.

Josh Foulks, 1B, Northwest Guilford HS, 2022 - Long, lanky and has room to add strength to his 6-foot 5 frame.  Stays inside the ball with some quickness to his hands.  Made a lot of hard contact with above average bat speed and barrel feel.

Casey Gouge, LHP/OF, West Rowan, 2022 - Balanced approach from the left side.  Loose hands and uses a short path to the ball.  Has feel for his barrel using both gaps with a line drive approach.

Joshua Deslauriers, OF/SS, Northern Guilford HS, 2021 - Athletic with quick hands at the plate.  Hit a lot of line drives with above average bat speed during batting practice. 

Ryne Rodrigues, 3B, Northwest Guilford, 2022 - Used the whole field during batting practice with a simple, short swing.  Has quick hands with strength in his swing.  Better than average barrel awareness and bat speed.

Korbin Pettigrew, SS/OF, Hoggard HS, 2022 - Flat swing with loose hands.  Has feel for his barrel working middle to his pull side.  Should see his power increase as he adds strength to his frame.

 

Pitchers

Jacob Dilley, RHP/OF, Watauga HS, 2023 – Strike thrower with projection in a young frame.  Fastball up to 78 working from a high-3/4 delivery with the release coming out of his sleeve.

Jackson Roberts, RHP, Northern Guilford HS, 2022 – Stable and repeats a clean delivery, leading to good feel for a fastball / curveball combination.  Occasional run to the fastball, up to 83.  Breaking ball flashed late tilt.

Baxley Holshouser, RHP, Sanderson HS, 2020 – Heavy fastball with arm side run peaked at 87 when direction allowed him to finish with extension.  Curveball and slider in the arsenal with feel for each.  Curveball has late tilt working out of the same window as the fastball.

Casey Gouge, LHP/OF, West Rowan HS, 2022 – Quick arm that repeats his slot with good extension on the fastball.  Fastball has movement, peaking at 77 with room to grow.  Curveball and cutter that work with from the same window as fastball.   Frame should add strength and allow stuff to make another jump.

Dawson Wiggins, RHP, Midway HS, 2021 – Some effort created some deception through release.   Fastball peaked at 84.  Command and control improved and the bullpen progressed.
