College Campus I.D. Greensboro: Catcher & Outfielder Analysis

PBR continued its pursuit to identify the top players in the state of North Carolina on Thursday October 10, 2019 at War Memorial Stadium, home of the North Carolina A&T Aggies, as part of the College Campus ID. Players in attendance were able to go through a full pro-style workout with PBR Scouts collecting stats, notes, and video. In the coming days, PBR will post a full statistical breakdown as well as complete look at each player in attendance with video and an evaluation.
We continue our look at the College Campus ID from Greensboro with our catcher and outfielder evaluations. Seven catchers and two outfielders went through the pro-style workout, working out from their primary positions and going through a full offensive evaluation. The evaluation includes all of the player's numbers from the event and a link to his personal video hosted on his PBR Profile Page.

Catchers
CJ Powell C / 3B / Eastern Alamance, NC / 2022
5 foot 9, 195-pound build with strength. Hits from the right side with a slightly open narrow base with some barrel waggle. Uses a leg kick during his load with an average stride, getting his base back to even. Aggressive swing during batting practice with above average bat speed. Loose hands with some barrel whip using a gap to gap approach. Exit velocity recorded at 92 mph. Transfers across his chest with a short arm action, throwing from a high ¾ slot with his arm topping at 75 mph from a crouch position. Some carry and accuracy to his throws with his pop times ranging from 2.08-2.20. Presents a low target behind the plate while receiving bull pens with average hands. Plays through balls on the infield. Caches the ball out front with clean exchanges. Arm topped at 77 mph to first base. Recorded a 7.29 in the 60. |
Stephen Lamb C / RHP / Durham Academy , NC / 2022
Thin frame at 5 foot 10, 150-pounds. Hits from the right side with a slightly open setup with his chest leaning over towards the plate. Average stride, diving into the plate with his hands working back. Uses the whole field during batting practice with a mostly level bat path. Exit velocity recorded at 78 mph and should improve with added strength. Arm topped at 70 mph to second base from a crouch position. Transfers across his chest with a short arm action, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Some feel for the second base bag with pop times ranging from 2.15-2.22. Recorded a 7.86 in the 60. |

5 foot 11, 170-pound athletic build. Left hand hitter with a relaxed, open setup and narrow base. Fluid load with his hands working back. Loose hands and shows some strength to his pull side. Has feel for his barrel and uses the opposite field gap. Average to above average bat speed with his exit velocity recorded at 89 mph. Behind the plate, clean transfers across his chest with a short arm action, throwing from an over the top slot. Accurate arm that topped at 75 mph to second base. Pop times ranged from 2.04-2.08. Presents a low target while receiving bullpens with average hands. Plays with bounce on the infield. Active feet catching the ball off his left hip. Some softness to the hands, funneling to the midsection after catch. Accurate arm with some carry across the diamond that topped at 79 mph. Recorded a 7.72 in the 60. |
Elijah Jordan C / OF / Heritage, NC / 2022
Average frame at 5 foot 11, 175-pounds. Switch hitter. Uses a tall, open setup from both side with high hands.
