CVCC Scout Day: Quick Hitters-Position Players

PBR of North Carolina was on hand for a scout day with Catawba Valley Community College Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight data. Position players ran 60, went through a defensive evaluation and took batting practice on the field with Trackman gathering data on each swing. Below we begin our breakdown of the players who took part in the workout. Look for more information to follow in the coming days.
Quick Hitters - Position Players
6-foot-2, 225-pound frame. Transferred to CVCC from Queens. Left hand hitter. Hit balls off the barrel to both gaps during his BP rounds. Top exit velocity at 100.1 mph, average EV at 87.3 mph. Balanced through the swing, hands are strong with quickness, keeps his barrel through the ball with pop to his pull side. Has feel around the first base bag.
6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Hands are quick with a short path, flat barrel path through the zone. Worked mostly through the middle and to his pull side. Top exit velocity at 94.4 mph, average EV at 82.5 mph. Plays from below the baseball with trust in his hands on the infield. Gets the ball out quick to first base, arm peaked at 87 mph to first base. Ran a 7.15 60.
6-foot-1, 215-pound build. Transferred to CVCC from UT-Martin. Left hand hitter. Simple. Balanced swing working through the middle of the field during BP. Peak exit velocity at 94.3 mph, average EV at 87 mph. Some lift to the swing path, consistently hitting balls off the barrel. Fluid actions aroudn the first base bag, ran a 7.20 in the 60.
5-foot-10, 180-pound build. Short swing working through the middle of the field with a line drive approach. Hands have strength and quickness, top exit velocity at 92.7 mph, average EV at 84.8 mph. Athletic actions on the infield, good bend to the hips with trust in his hands, arm topped at 81 mph to first base with feel for using different slots. Ran a 6.83 in the 60.
5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Controlled swings in BP working through the middle of the field. Lined balls through the middle of the field with his peak exit velocity at 93.6 mph, average EV at 85.4 mph. Hands are quick with feel for the barrel. Athletic actions on the infield with confidence in his hands, easy transitions with his arm topping at 86 mph to first base. Quick transfers behind the plate with arm topping at 76 mph. Ran a 6.92 in the 60.
