Game Recap:
Jessie Carson High School played host on a cold rainy Wednesday night to non conference opponent Jay M Robinson High School. A back and forth game early, Carson would settle in after a big 2nd inning to take the victory.
The visiting Bulldogs struck first with an RBI double by Austin Dayvault in the top of the 1st. The Cougars were able to respond and take the lead in the bottom of the first, with an RBI double by Luke Barringer. Barringer would come around to score on a balk, pushing Carson ahead 2-1 afer 1.
The 2nd inning saw 9 total runs on 4 hits, 5 walks, 3 hit-by-pitches and 2 runners reaching via an error. Jay M Robinson tacked on 4 runs, one being on a sac fly by Tyler Grady. Carson responded with another RBI single from Barringer. Zeb Burns’ RBI single scored one. On an errant throw in, another run scored, moving Burns to second. A third runner tried to score, allowing Burns to move to 3B, but he was cut down, keeping the score at 7-5. Burns was stranded and Carson entred the 3rd with the 2 run lead.
Barringer was at it again, this time with a 2-RBI double to right, scoring Deacon Wike and Cole Hales, moving the score to 9-5. The Bulldogs cut the lead to just three with a RBI single by Dayvault in the 4th, scoring Grady.
Jay M. Robinson continued to chip away scoring two in the top half of the 6th. A double from Collin Auten scored Grady. Auten would score with the next hitter reaching on an error. With the Carson lead cut to 9-8, the Cougars would work 4 walks and a hit-by-pitch, surrounded by a Burns single to push 3 insurance runs across sealing the game.
