The 2022 High School season is in the books, congratulations to all of our Champions and to every team and player who got to take part in our first full season since 2019. Our last step in wrapping up the season is to recognize players who had standout campaigns:
PBR VA/DC 2022 Player of the Year
Hanover 2022 SS/RHP Seth Keller cruised to this award with a season for the ages for the VHSL Class 4 State Champs. He started it off with a bang at the prestigious NHSI Tournament in Cary, North Carolina, where he set the single-game strikeout record in April. He then continued that tear all the way through to the end of the season. Overall, he hit .554 in 65 AB with 10 HRs, 9 2Bs, 35 RBI, and 38 runs scored with an 1.859 OPS. On the mound, he went 6-0 in 36.1 IP with a 0.58 ERA while recording 75 K and allowing just 9 hits all season.
PBR VA/DC 2022 Offensive Player of the Year
Our 2022 Offensive Player of the Year is Gonzaga 2022 Nick Morabito. Morabito helped lead the Eagles to the WCAC Championship and the DCSAA Championship this spring, and was especially hot in the WCAC Tournament, launching a home run in what felt like every game. His final offensive line for the season included a .545 BA with 12 home runs and 43 RBI while also stealing 52 bases.
PBR VA/DC 2022 Pitcher of the Year
Our final major award goes to Bishop O'Connell 2022 RHP Jack O'Connor. O'Connor helped lead a Knights rotation that won the WCAC regular season and he was 3-0 in three starts against Gonzaga and St. John's. His final line for the season was 7-0, 0.83 ERA with 70 strikeouts. He also hit 5 home runs and stole 29 bases out of the leadoff spot.
