On Tuesday, July 23rd, PBR will host the top players from across NC in the 2019 Top Underclass Games at UNC.  In it’s first two years, the Underclass Games have seen 40 players commit to their college destination, with still a majority of the event’s players still in high school.  This year’s roster is again loaded with talent from across North Carolina.  Players will go through a pro-style workout, showcasing on both the offensive and defensive end.  After the workout, players will compete in a modified scrimmage with live pitchers throwing to hitters.

Throughout the day, PBR will be on hand to collect and verify player statistics, add player evaluations through the PBR scouting staff, and add professionally cut video to each player’s PBR Profile.  PBR is the most trusted scouting service in the country with schools from across North Carolina, and the country, subscribing for the information.

*College coaches and pro scouts in attendance will receive the scout book and lunch as part of their attendance.

NC Top Underclass Games – Middle Infielders

 

The middle infield group at this year’s Top Underclass Games is deep and talented.  Typically MIF at the high school level represent some of the better athletes in their graduating classes and these 2021 and 2022 grads will hold that mark.  Below are just a few of the middle infielders to keep an eye on at the Top Underclass Games at UNC on Tuesday July 23^rd.

 

 

 

Gavin Fragale SS / 2B / Southlake Christian, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 73 / POS: 14 Athletic tendencies in a lean frame at the 2019 Preseason All-State event... As strength comes, the bat path should play... Loose hands and catches the ball consistently.

 

 

Will Marcy SS / OF / Cardinal Gibbons, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 41 / POS: 8 Has run a 7.01 sixty for PBR... 85 across the infield and 86 off the bat... Lanky frame will continue to add strength with quickness already present.

 

 

Oliver Zohn SS / 2B / South Garner, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 83 / POS: 17 Stood out with his barrel ability at the 2019 Southern Academic Games in June... Still maturing into the frame... Exit velocity up to 84.

 

 

Zackery Middleton 2B / RHP / Walkertown, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 39 / POS: 1 Potential dual player to follow... Up to 84 in a bullpen at the Carolina Prospect ID... Touched 87 on throws from the OF... Has barrel awareness, working flat through the zone.

 

 

Hayden Brandon SS / 2B / Charlotte Christian , NC / 2021 Stood out with his athleticism and ease on the infield at the SBA Summer Kick-Off Camp in late May... Strength should come... Shows barrel feel and strength will allow the swing to play up.

 

 

Gavin Sentell SS / 2B / Ledford , NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 42 / POS: 9 Athletic LHH shortstop... Smaller frame that will continue to mature.  Good feel for the game defensively.

 

 

Devin Tonkins SS / OF / Greensboro Day, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 71 / POS: 13 6.91 sixty for PBR... 82 off the bat... Has continued to make gains each time PBR has seen him, at events and in live game action... Athletic and the frame is continuing to get stronger...

 

 

Tyler Shytle 2B / SS / Oak Grove, NC / 2022 Quick, clean actions defensively at the Carolina Prospect ID in May... Swing works the middle of the field with a direct path... Showed quickness.

 

 

 

Jaxon Masterson SS / 2B / Sanderson, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 31 / POS: 6 Breakout performance at the 2019 Preseason All-State event in January.  Frame is still maturing... Good barrel awareness... Athletic with rhythm on defense.
