2019 Top Prospect Games - 2021 & 2022 MIF Analysis

One of the premier events each summer on the PBR docket is the North Carolina Top Prospect Games. This year, the Top Prospect Games took place on August 7th at Campbell University with over 50 of the top players from North Carolina in attendance. Position players worked through a full pro-style workout, followed by a controlled scrimmage with pitchers throwing live to hitters. PBR scouts were on hand to collect stats, notes, and evaluations on each player in attendance.
We continue the deep dive into information and players from the Top Prospect Games. Below is a look at the nine middle infielders from the 2021 and 2022 grad classes that were in attendance. MIDDLE INFIELDERS
Jordan Bryant SS / 2B / Lumberton , NC / 20225 foot 10, 125-pound thin frame with room for growth ahead. Hits from the right side with a balanced setup. Hands work back during the load with a short stride. Gets extension through the ball out front. Works mostly middle to his pull side. Some length in the swing at times. Exit velocity recorded at 75 mph and should improve with added strength. Bounces around on the infield with fluid actions. Some softness to the hands, funneling to the belt after catch with a quick release. Arm topped at 78 mph across the diamond. Recorded a 8.00 in the 60. |
Chase Caristo SS / 2B / Apex, NC / 2021Rankings StateRank: 139 / POS: 30
Average build at 5 foot 8, 160-pounds. Balanced setup from the right side with his bat flat above his back shoulder. Quick, short stride during the load. Hands stay close to his body during the swing with a pull approach. Slightly uphill through the ball at times. Exit velocity recorded at 84 mph. Plays through balls on the infield with average hands. Funnels to the belt after catch with a quick release to first base. Accurate arm across the diamond that topped at 73 mph. Recorded a 7.06 in the 60. |
Matt Heavner SS / OF / North Lincoln, NC / 2022Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
North Carolina State commit. Average build at 5 foot 10, 145-pounds. Athletic, relaxed setup from the right side of the plate. Smooth load with a small leg kick and his hands getting ready to attack the ball. Fluid swing with advanced barrel awareness using the whole field during batting practice. Loose hands with above average bat speed with his exit velocity at 88 mph. Plays relaxed on the infield with rhythm to the feet and hands. Soft hands with easy transfers and feel from different arm angles. Arm is accurate with carry across the diamond topping at 86 mph. Recorded a 7.42 in the 60. Plays faster than the sixty time. |
Jackson Kuhn C / 2B / Pinecrest, NC / 2022Lanky frame at 5 foot 11, 138-pounds with room to add strength. Balanced setup from the right side with his bat flat over his back shoulder. Weight goes slightly back in his load with little to no stride with a quiet barrel. Stays inside the ball using the whole field during batting practice. Exit velocity recorded at 82 mph and should improve with added strength. Active feet that work around the ball on the infield with average hands. Clean exchanges, with a long arm swing, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Some accuracy to his throws across the diamond that topped at 73 mph. Recorded a 7.96 in the 60. |

Line drive approach working mostly middle to his pull side. Has feel for his barrel with average bat speed. Exit velocity recorded at 83 mph. Plays through balls in the outfield with average hands.
