June 27, 2019
For over 30 years, the State Games of North Carolina has held an all-star competition featuring high school players from across the state. The state is split into 8 regions, with each region being selected and coached by high school coaches from their region.
This year the State Games of NC were being held in Charlotte, NC. Day 1 saw a full pro-style workout for the position players that included a timed 60, a defensive workout, and live BP. College coaches, pro scouts, and PBR were on hand to evaluate every player from every region. Day 2 moved to BB&T Ballpark in uptown Charlotte, home of the Chicago White Sox AAA affiliate the Charlotte Knights. Each region played 1 game at the beautiful facility. Days 3 and 4 saw more pool play at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium, on the campus of UNC Charlotte, home to the Charlotte 49ers. The event concluded with the consolation and medal rounds, again played at UNC Charlotte.
Prep Baseball Report was on hand for Days 1 – 4, putting together player profiles, gathering player statistics, and working to get to know the players in the state a little better. As part of our State Games of NC coverage, each day PBR attended a State Games Notebook was put together, featuring players that stood out. You can see the State Games Notebook as part of the NC Summer Scout Blog HERE.
