Greene Central Wins Game 3 over Whiteville Sending Them to The State Championship

Game 3 of the 2A Eastern Regional Final features Whiteville vs Greene Central, with the winner going to the State Championship. The first 3 innings both teams were held scoreless with very little offense. In the bottom of the 4th Greene Central got on the board first following back to back HBP, Noah Uzzell drove in a run with a RBI single to CF. In the top of the 5th Whiteville would tie it up on a error scoring Ashton Hammonds who had the only hit of the game for Whiteville.

Greene Central would pull away in the fifth, back to back singles by Easton Creech and Will Radford put Greene Central up 3-1. The big blow came off the bat of Riley Radford who drove in 3 on his homer to left. That gave Greene Central a commanding lead of 6-1. Greene Central struck again in the bottom of the 6th with Easton Creech delivering a 2 RBI single to RF. Riley Radford followed up his homer with a double off the fence in LF making the score 9-1 in favor of Greene Central. Riley Radford was the winning pitcher on the game only allowing 1 hit with 0 walks and 5Ks.

Greene Central will take on Burns next weekend for the State Championship.

Whiteville tremendous season ends with a final record of 24-3.

Threw a CG 1 hitter to lead his team to the State Finals. Radford dominated in the outing allowing 1 hit with no walks striking out 5. The righty used a simple delivery with a short arm swing from a 3/4 slot. The fastball ranged 83-87 throughout the entire outing, working on the top half of the baseball. Radford was able to get a good down plane on the ball creating sinking action. A sharp curveball is the out pitch, Radford shows good command and confidence in the pitch throwing in any count. Working with 11/5 movement with depth and late action the breaking ball was able to create swing and miss.
