The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Pearl, MS at Trustmark Park as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Magnolia State.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each MHSAA classification as well as a Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK
East Union will begin 2024 in search of their 3rd straight 2A State Championship after knocking off Pisgah in the final series at Trustmark Park last year. Coach Chris Basil definitely has some production coming back this season on the Urchin roster and could be looking at yet another trip to Jackson.
Top returners for the Urchins include juniors Drew Hollimon (C/2B/OF), Landon Harmon (RHP/OF - Mississippi State recruit), Ben Basil (3B/RHP), Tristan Baldwyn (OF), and Daniel Whitfield (OF/P).
Former Future Gamer, Drew Hollimon is back and ready to pick up where he left off after hitting .410 with 5 home runs and 38 runs batted in. Ben Basil and Tristan Baldwyn both drove in over 30 runs as well, with Baldwin adding 4 round trippers. On the mound, the two headed monster of Landon Harmon (9-1, 0.92 ERA, 112 K’s) and the aforementioned Basil (8-1, 2.12 ERA, 85 K’s) return and ready to shut down opposing hitters once again in 2024.
