Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 8 (April 1-7).

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Aiden Swales C / 2B / Pisgah, MS / 2024 The Hinds CC recruit had a great week going 7 for 8 with 2 home runs, while scoring 5 runs and driving in another 8. It's the second time this season Swales has earned the Prep Baseball Mississippi Player of the Week honor.

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Wes Pritchard LHP / 1B / Lamar School, MS / 2024 The East Central CC recruit had a spectacular outing last week, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing just 2 hits, while striking out 16! On the season the lefty is 4-2 with a 1.60 ERA, with 98 strikeouts in just 48 innings.
