Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week: Week 5

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 5 (March 11-17).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brayden Smith C Belmont, MS / 2025

Smith was a pest to opposing pitchers last week as the Cardinal catcher went 9 for 13, reaching base 11 times and scoring a total of 10 runs. The uncommitted 2025 is now hitting .364 on the season.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jack Ketchum RHP / 1B / Heritage Academy, MS / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 5

The Alabama recruit was dominant in a start last week going 7 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, while striking out a total of 15 hitters. Ketchum is now 2-1 with a 1.05 ERA with 41 strikeouts in use 20 innings.
