The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2024 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance. 

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 4

Ayden Wilbanks 3B / RHP / Kossuth , MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 20 / POS: 3 Was .500 at the plate on the week for the Aggies offense as he was 6-12 at the plate, picked up four doubles and tallied five RBI's.

Bryson Walters C / 3B / Itawamba Agricultural , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 55 / POS: 10 Has been a big contributor to the offensive production for Itawamba. This past week he was 6-10 at the plate with a home run, triple, double and picked up six total RBI's.

Lake Reed C / SS / Tupelo, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 27 / POS: 3 Was a tough out for opposing arms this week as he was 8-9 at the plate, had a pair of doubles and tallied three RBI's to go along with it.

Hayes Hooker C / OF / Tupelo , MS / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 87 / POS: 16 Has been swinging it well to start his junior campaign, in Week 4 he was 5-6 at the plate, adding a double, scoring five runs and an RBI.

Cayden Prestage OF / LHP / Itawamba, MS / 2026 Rankings  StateRank: 11 / POS: 4 A monster week on the mound for the uncommitted sophomore who also earned Pitcher of the Week honors. Prestage tossed a complete game no hitter and also struckout 14.

Tyrese Johnson 3B / 1B / West Point, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 52 / POS: 5 Earning Player of the Week honors for Week 4, Johnson hit for a .600 clip and also added two home runs, a triple and tallied five total RBI's.

Caidan Bullard LHP / Tupelo, MS / 2024 Another Tupelo prospect who had a strong week on the diamond. The senior was 6-11, had a pair of home runs, two doubles and four total RBI's in Week 4.

Miller Owens SS / 2B / Independence, MS / 2025 Owens had a strong performance at the plate for Independence. The junior was 7-11 at the plate, scoring five runs and collecting two RBI's.

Brewer Bailey / TUPELO CHRISTIAN PREPARATORY SCHOOL, MS / 2024 Bailey had a strong week for TPCS as he was 6-9 and added a double, triple and five RBI's in Week 4 of the spring season.

Rod Davis Jr. RHP / FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 Tossed a complete game shutout during his outing last week against North Pike. RJ only allowed three total hits, while striking out 18.
