AL/MS Border Battle: Infielder Reports

BOONEVILLE, MS - The AL/MS Border Battle was held on October 14th-15th at Northeast Mississippi CC in Booneville, MS. This was an invite-only event that consisted of prospects in the 2025, 2026, & 2027 classes from both Alabama & Mississippi. These players went through a pro-style workout on Saturday and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics, then followed it up with gameplay on Sunday with pitchers throwing multiple innings. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this weekend.

Body: 6-0, 140-pounds. Leaner frame, athletic. Can add size/strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, athletic stance. Solid barrel discipline, handles the barrel well. Juice to all fields from a slightly tilted path. 73.8 mph bat speed with 8 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 83.2 mph. 298’ max distance.

Defense: Feet work well, showed well on the ball to the backside. Glove works well.

Andrew Edwards, Brooks (AL), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-10, 140-pounds. Leaner frame. Can add easy physical development.
Hit: RHH. Slightly crouched stance; narrow with the feet. Handled the bat well to all fields. Slightly tilted bat path. 56.7 mph bat speed with 11 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 68.3 mph. 250’ max distance.

Defense: Fields everything out front very well. Nice footwork.

Rhys Jones, Spain Park (AL), 2026

Hit: RHH. Taller, slightly open stance. Really solid swing, handles the bat to all fields. Creates carry to both gaps. Love the approach. 62.3 mph bat speed with 10 G’s of rotational acceleration.
