The Underclass Free Showcase took place on Sunday, September 23rd at St. Thomas Aquinas high school in Hammond, LA. The open event featured 60 underclass prospects – from around the state - complete the 60-yard dash, positional workouts, live batting practice, followed by pitcher bullpen sessions. Here's a look at the numbers from Sunday's event.

TOP 60 YARD DASH

There were nine sub-7.25-second laser-timed 60-yard dash times recorded on Sunday. Louisiana State recruit, Connor Simon (St. Paul’s, 2021) clocked the quickest 60 of the event, posting a time of 7.02-seconds. Elijah Winters (Ponchatula, 2022), Chance Nabong (West Harrison (MS), 2021), Louisiana-Lafayette recruit, Reese Smith (Denham Springs, 2021) and Patrick Day (The Dunham School, 2021) followed suit, separated by slim margins.

TOP FASTBALL VELOCITY

D’Brendon Hill (Terrebonne, 2021) topped the fastball leaderboard touching 85 mph on Sunday. While Roth John (Covenant Christian, 2021), Hunter Ponson (Parkview Baptist, 2021), Brody Smith (Zachary, 2021) and Blake Gollott (St.Patrick (MS), 2022) each ran their fastballs up to 81+ mph.

TOP EXIT VELOCITY

There were 20+ prospects who posted 80+ mph exit velos at Sunday’s event. Amare Bailey (Zachary, 2021) registered 87 mph to lead the pack. While Hunter Ponson (Parkview Baptist, 2021), Anthony Priester (Live Oak, 2021), Connor Simon (St. Paul’s, 2021), Sladen Lyles (Springfield, 2022), and Gabe Patterson (Central(BR), 2021) all posted exit velocities of 86 mph.

TOP INFIELD VELOCITY

Connor Simon (St. Paul’s, 2021) showed off arm strength on Suday, posting an event best 85 mph positional velocity from the infield. While Kyle DeBarge (Barbe, 2021), Patrick Day (The Dunham School, 2021) and Connor Cassels (Central(BR), 2021) round out the leaderboardr from Sunday.

TOP OUTFIELD VELOCITY

Anthony Priester (Live Oak, 2021) and D’Brendon Hill (Terrebonne, 2021) topped the leaderboard with a positional velocities of 85 mph from the outfield. While Elijah Winters (Ponchatula, 2022), Brady Neyland (Zachary, 2022), and Blake Gollott (St. Patrick (MS), 2022) showed off strong arms from the outfield on Sunday.

TOP CATCHER POP TIMES

Zackarie Casebonne (Jesuit, 2021) posted the top pop time of the event at 1.98. While, Chance Nabong (West Harrison (MS), 2021) and Gabe Patterson (Central(BR), 2021) posted pop times of 2.05-seconds. Anthony Priester (Live Oak, 2021) and Jacob Billiot (Hannan, 2021) also showed well, posting pop times of 2.11-seconds.

TOP CATCHER VELOCITY 

Anthony Priester (Live Oak, 2021) posted the top positional velocity for catchers with 76 mph, while Zackarie Casebonne (Jesuit, 2021) recorded a positional velocity of 75 mph. Chance Nabong (West Harrison (MS), 2021) posted a positional velocity of 74 mph, and Logan Serpas (Hannan, 2021) posted a positional velocity of 73 mph.
