Team Select took to the diamond on Thursday afternoon to faceoff against Team Nevada in their opening game at the PBR Future Games at LakePoint. Hits were hard to come by for Team Select as they dropped the game 4-2. Despite the lack of offense, a number of players still stood out.

2021 RHP George Eisenhardt (Valley Catholic, OR) got the ball to start the game and pumped in the top velocity of the day for Team Select, touching 89 mph. At 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, Eisenhardt has a long, projectable frame that is sure to carry more weight as he continues to physically develop. His offspeed pitches are still progressing, but flashed signs of being above-average pitches. The curveball has gradual break with a 1/7 shape at 67-72, also mixed in a changeup, less frequently, at 79-81.
One of the few bright spots offensively for Team Select came by way of SS/RHP Jonah Mahen(Crossing Christian, OK) who found the barrel in multiple at-bats. A lean, athletic two-way prospect with a 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame. He shows quick-twitch actions at the plate as his hands are quick and strong and the barrel works level through the zone as he drives the ball from gap to gap. He had a loud flyout in the left-center field gap and then picked up a hit with a hotshot groundball through the infield. A 6.63-runner in the 60-yard dash on Wednesday, he put his speed to good use with a stolen base. On the mound, he put in two scoreless innings of work. His arm works with a stab on the backside and he quickly accelerates to a high-3/4 slot. The fastball was mostly 81-84, touching 86, and he mixed in an 11/5 curveball at 70-72. 2021 SS Chase Swain (Woodstown, NJ) had in impressive workout day as he put up personal bests for positional velocity (81 mph) and exit velocity (92 mph). A quick twitch athlete, Swain manned the middle infield flawlessly and added one of Team Select's three hits.
A pair of crafty left-handers, 2021 LHP Kros Sivley (Sumrall, MS) and 2022 Truman Richter(Voorhees, NJ), each saw one inning stints on the mound. Sivley’s fastball worked 81-84 while mixing in a slower, more gradual 1/7 curveball at 63-64 and sweeping slider at 71. Richter took to the mound in the seventh inning and got the job done in quick order. Standing 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, Richter does not overpower you with his fastball as it sat 82-84, but rather relies on deception and pitchability. His short, loose arm stays directly behind his body on the arm swing, only allowing the batter to get a glimpse of the ball as it jumps out of his hand. Also mixed in a gradual breaking 1/7 curveball at 64-67.
One of the bigger winners on the day was 2022 RHP Eli Stowe (Millbrook Prep, NY). Stowe has a powerful frame and presence for such a young age as he stands 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with plenty of growth and physicality yet to be tapped into. Coming out from a low ¾ slot, Stowe’s fastball sat 85-87 with run to both sides of the plate. He was able to effectively mix in a hard slider in the upper 70s with downer action that has the potential to be a swing and miss pitch.
Team Select is back in action today as they take on Team Arizona at 2:30 p.m. on Field 16.
