The Prospect Lab scout day took place on Sunday, October 15, at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. The open event saw nearly one hundred participants from the southeastern region.

Below are a few quick takeaways from our scouting staff on Sunday’s event:

+ 2018 SS/2B Landon Jordan (Hancock) Mississippi State recruit. A left-handed hitter showed fluid rhythm with a level path, and made consistent hard contact, driving balls from gap-to-gap for the duration of his round. Defensively, he showed fluid actions with soft hands in the infield, as well as quality athleticism posting a 6.88 60-yard dash.

+ 2018 OF Adarius Myers (Seminary) Louisiana Tech recruit, kicked off the TPL scout day showing explosive, fast-twitch athleticism. The physical 5-foot-10, 180-pounder posted one of the fastest 60-yard dash times running a 6.7, and put together a quality round of batting practice, using the entire field from the right side with a strong, simple, direct bat path.

+ New Orleans recruit, 2019 RHP Antoine Harris (Chalmette, LA), showed why he is one of the top prospects in his class, out of the state of Louisiana. Highly projectable, athletic 6-foot-4, 170-pound frame, Harris showed off his electric right-handed arm, sitting 88-90 mph in his bullpen session. Harris displayed easy velocity with a repeatable delivery, throwing an improved breaking ball with late action and solid depth at 75-77 mph.

+ Alabama State recruit, 2019 OF Christian Hall (Calera, AL) is another young prospect that displayed intriguing projectable tools. Standing a physical 6-foot-1, 199-pounds with a strong build, Hall posted a 7.09 60-yard dash. In addition, the left-handed hitter showed quality bat speed with big power potential, posting a 91 mph exit velocity and finding consistent barrel during his batting practice round.

+ 2019 IF Will Spears (St. Augustine, LA) a strong 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with athletic build. Showed fluid athleticism posting a 6.96 60-yard dash time. Right-handed hitter with rhythm and gap-to-gap approach. Showed strength at contact and quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 94 mph.

+ Auburn recruit, 2019 C/RHP Nathan LaRue (McGill Toolen Catholic, AL) showed why he is one of the top prospect in his class, flashing loose, fluid athleticism with quick and clean transfers during his defensive work behind the dish. LaRue has a short arm action into high-3/4 release, and gets rid of the ball quickly with carry and accuracy on throws, posting an event best 76 mph positional velocity from the crouch and a 1.85 pop time. At the plate the right-handed hitter showed hitability with raw power recording a 92 mph exit velocity, also posting a 6.95 60-yard dash.

+ 2019 OF Leo Harris (St. Martin) is another young prospect that showed intriguing athleticism. Standing 6-foot-3, 165-pounds with lean, athletic build, Harris posted a 6.75 60-yard dash. The right-handed hitter’s stroke is short and direct with fluid rhythm and developing feel for the barrel.

+ 2019 SS/2B Tyler Ducksworth (South Jones) was another standout during the batting practice portion of the event. A right-handed hitter, Ducksworth hits from a open, balanced setup working closed with subtle leg lift and fluid rhythm. As he sprayed line-drives from gap-to-gap, Ducksworth showed a level path with bat speed and strength at contact recording an 88 mph exit velocity.
